"Oh, what a delightful summer experience! Forget the typical pub food, haggis, and Cullen skink found throughout the area, and take a short detour to Hercules, where you can find a charming farm-to-table café. They offer a wonderful selection of vegetarian soups, sandwiches, salads, and more. It was certainly a lovely way to combat jet lag. I am a bit unclear about whether they differentiate between the café and the restaurant, as it seems to be the case on their website, but this distinction isn’t really obvious when you’re there—though it probably doesn’t matter much in practice. The exterior appeared to be a popular gathering spot for locals—artists, readers, writers, and other fascinating individuals. Definitely worth a visit!"

We frequent Pillars of Hercules often. There are few places in the area like it and we adore it. The restaurant has a rustic, organic atmosphere that we appreciate.

I was extremely disappointed with this restaurant. The review focuses on the cafe, but I believe that if you claim to specialize in something and receive so much praise and attention...

This is a beautiful little farm cafe, without side decking, next to its allotment garden, selling plants. The Leek soup was gorgeous. Highly recommend it, my parents and I will be returning again. View menu

This restaurant is wonderful - nice atmosphere, delicious food, and friendly staff. I'm not sure why another reviewer had a negative experience. All of the dishes we tried were fresh, tasty, and made with care.

Would highly recommend, very varied selection of drinks/ food at the cafe, reasonably priced, with plenty of sitting out areas especially the one overlooking plant area. Their shop has a full range of local organic produce . View menu

What's not to love about this place. A peaceful yet vibrant oasis with some of the best coffee and hot chocolate you'd find anywhere. The seating arrangements are also great, regardless of the weather. Plenty of walking trails near this area, the organic shop itself has a great range of options from fresh vegetables to organic bath soaps. Can't wait for the fortnightly pizza night events with live music to make a return!

I camped here for two nights while on a bike tour and decided to take a rest day because the place was so magical. It cost £5 per tent, and we had a private area in the upper gardens designated for cyclists and hikers. There was even an external socket available for charging our electronic devices for free. The grass in our area was a bit overgrown, but the friendly staff sent someone to tidy it up before we set up our tents. The showers were hot, and the toilets were clean. I really enjoyed the lovely birdsong and the friendly blackbirds. The shop on-site was quite pricey, which was beyond my budget, so I opted for a vegetarian meal instead of paying £3.48 for a can of tuna to go with my pa...
