"My wife and I had trekked out to the Lautersee, and on our return to Mittenwald found that a restaurant I had hoped to lunch at was closed for vacation (as so many are in April). We had passed the brewery and Post Keller the day before, when Post Keller was closed, and decided to head there for lunch. The dining room is up one floor from street level. We took a seat at the outside tables. The view of the mountains is wonderful, and even the reflected view is excellent. The only downside to sitting outside is that smoking is allowed there, and so if you cannot tolerate smoke or prefer to not take the chance, then settle for an indoor table. I should add that if you are dining alone or a couple, the outside tables are shared. The menu has entries in multiple languages, including English. I do love the beer from the local brewery, especially the dunked, and it is a great way to start your meal.My wife ordered the Weiner schnitzel, and I wanted to try the pork hock. Both dishes came with a substantial salad, and both dishes had very generous servings. Neither my wife nor I could finish them, and it is not because we didn't like the food. As I mentioned we had just gone on a long multihour hike. The hock was beautifully crisp on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. The accompanying dumpling was tender and flavorful. The gravy was tasty. The kraut salad that came with the dish was interestingly different and flavorful. My wife enjoyed her meal as well; the frites were nicely done, the cutlets were tasty, and the starting salad introduced some vegetables into an otherwise meat and potato dominated meal. Service was attentive and efficient. The two main courses were perhaps a bit more expensive than offerings at other restaurants in town, but the in-town offerings that we have sampled did not include a salad. Certainly compared to the obscene prices we are used to in the San Francisco Bay area, the value here is very high. Overall, a place I can heartily recommend, and a place I plan to revisit during future visits to Mittenwald."

The beer was excellent, both the natur keller beer and the Dunkel, as was the service. The restaurant itself is comfortable and spacious. The food was good but not the best roast knuckle I've had.

Waited almost 1,5 hours for the mediocre food. Almost impossible to get in contact with the stressed out waiters. Tried to get the bill for 30 minutes, we ended up just leaving the money on the table.

Stopped in from a solo trip to Mittenwald, the guy that waited on me spoke fluent english so that was nice. They also have a lot of different beers from the Mittenwald brewery. Would definitely recommend.

Authentic Bavarian food. Great atmosphere. Amazing local beer. Friendly to visitors with pets. Amazing staff, speaking most European languages. Moderate prices. Restaurant worth to visit to feel the real Bavarian authentic atmosphere. View menu

Wonderful place - not overly attractive from outside but classy and welcoming inside. Great service from very helpful friendly staff. Also great food, and really excellent beer! Just wish we had this place in our town - we'd be there every day!

I really like this place as the food is good and the beers are fresh as it's the brewery tap but we have noticed that if you dine later and are there after 9pm the staff go off cleaning tables and drying cutlery so service dips and it can take a while to get the bill or you can be sat with empty glasses. The menu is varied and translated into English and Italian. Staff are friendly

Jay and I always come here on our visits to Mittenwald. Everything about it gives you a real insight into the local culture. It is predominantly a restaurant and can cater easily for two parties, weddings and other celebrations at once. On Tuesday evenings in the summer there's an "eat as much as you like" buffet with a wide range of local choice food. you will also be entertained by a band playing typical Bavarian music and singing. We happened to visit when a wedding reception was taking place and it was great. The guests including children were nearly all in traditional dress and there was much singing and dancing to one of the local Bavarian bands. Even with these events going on, the Po... View menu

I liked to try local cuisines whether its a deer, wild boar or wild geese. This restaurant has a separate special menu (I am not sure whether its weekly special or monthly). Another thing that I loved about this restaurant is that they're using local ingredients. Reservation is recommended if you don't want to wait when you get there. This place is always busy that even though we booked for dinner we had to wait for someone free to direct us to our reserved table. We understand that part. The menu looks like a newspaper layout. And whats good for me is that it has the English version! No need for my husband to translate. I like pork knuckle! i have tried pricey pork knuckles in Dubai wheneve...

We visited the Post Keller Restaurant in Mittenwald with out German friends for an evening meal during September. The waitress who served us was lovely, dressed in National dress and very friendly and attentive service. The food is based on local cuisine and the meals were well presented and very tasty. A person had previously stated that this restaurant was closed, however it is very much open and an excellent environment apparently having been completely refurbished in 2014 when the new brewery equipment was installed. Some of the pictures on Tripadvisor of the building are now out of date.We found the restaurant to be very well, appointed and reminded us of the modern brew house restaurants...

"we visited the market restaurant for the first time and tried to eat here every later visit. we were not always successful because we were not sufficiently reserved in advance. I have reserved for our lunch today, and it would seem that lunch is a little easier to get a reservation. when we entered into us, we spent our entire walk in our apartment and talked about every single court we had in our four-course lunch. everyone was spectacular. the chef combines ingredients, aromas, textures and even article temperatures in a way that I had rarely experienced. my wife and I live in the san francisco bay area, and there are several restaurants that are listed michelin, and some that have stars. none of our local places are these innovative when it comes to bringing together courts. during our current visit, we decided again for the four-course lunch. the small starter who came before these four curses was remarkably tasty and playful in his presentation. it was another example for the clever use of contrasting textures and aromen in the construction of aligned. from the four curses that followed, the cortex tars was our favorite, and a beautiful representation of what I say. I had bark tars in many restaurants and in several countries. I never had one that was as vague as the one in the market restaurant. Sometimes you hear a combination, say for example ahi tartare and shaved white chocolate, and you could say that this would never work, but you would be wrong. this court I had in paris was an eye opener. the tartaric acid on the market has a similar character. the bark was in a “cloth” based on buttermilk, and the mild killing of buttermilk was irritable with the bark. it had a senfeis upstairs! how could that work? we loved it. there was a crispy mustard crumb. on the side of the bark were small amounts of liquid lemon cured. there were so many things that went before themselves in a court, and if there are so many things, you fear that they will not intercept. that was not the case here. I thought it was just brilliant. we also enjoyed our other courses very much. everyone had similar clever and delicious elements. we had a wonderful lunch. I will say if they are on a budget and travel with the family, this cannot be the best for them. I don't eat like that every day. if they are looking for an extravagant, exquisite meal that will be the culinary highlight of their visit, then they will go to the market restaurant. my wife and I often eat out, and among the highly valued restaurants closer to home is a michelin three-star restaurant that we dine. if I would compare market restaurant with this restaurant, I would rather only have a meal in the market restaurant than ten meals in the three-star restaurant, and that would be true if they were all paid by someone. the service is professional, but unpretentious, attentive, but not intrusive. the courts are innovate, but work. it's just a great culinary experience. next time we visit the middle of the forest, we will be sure to visit the restaurant again. our meals were simply amazing. I hope they can try the restaurant and enjoy it as much as we do. it's a bit pampered, but I don't know a place in the san francisco bay area I'm excited about."
