"I booked a slot for drinks on Friday for a party of six between 16:00 and 18:00; that was the latest slot that was on offer. We have been coming back to Blackheath every year or so for the past 20 odd years and The Princess of Wales is always a port of call. We were running late so I phoned to say we were coming. The person on the phone said that was fine but we still had to leave by 18:00. We arrived, had a nice comfy table and had a fine time. At five to six we were politely reminded that we only had the table until six. I like this. Many times I've booked a table only to be kept hanging around whilst the previous party took its time to go. In short, not only were we accomodated but the next people were also looked after. We will be back sometime in the future! Whether the management will look forward to the return of a bunch of squiffy sixty year olds is another matter."

We heard it was a great place for a lovely Sunday roast. I agree it’s a lovely place. Great staff but the roast , actually not great. No one asked us about our food. We paid the full bill but I won’t go back and I won’t recommend. Really naff roast potatoes, thin tasteless gravy, overcooked lamb. Just a rubbish roast .

We had a two course meal with olive nibbles and cocktails. The mains were fine but that was it really. Desserts were decent enough. Choc brownie good, cheesecake not the best. Signature cocktails were very decent. Service ok. The £50 a head price was just edging on the high side. It was fine but not somewhere I’d be desperate to return to.

Beautiful traditional cozy pub, unfortunately let down by the food. Wonderful friendly helpful staff and a fantastic place to let a few hours slide by drinking mulled wine or tea. We tried quite a few dishes on the menu, all of them quite average, the scallop dish could and should be a great plate if the scallops were not incredibly over cooked, they were inedible. Seems to be a trend with this pub chain that the food lets down what could be an amazing venue. View menu

Went with friends and the food was both poor and overpriced. Ordered cod fillet which was inedible as it had obviously been left under a hot lamp or reheated and was therefore very dry. We spoke to the waitress who was advised by the kitchen that they would offer us a free dessert. Ordered the sticky toffee pudding with crème anglais which again, was inedible. The crème anglais had curdled the sticky toffee pudding was tasteless. Also, £14 for a glass of white wine really?! Really wouldn’t recommend.

Had a beautiful Christmas dinner for 4 people at our favourite local pub. Wonderful friendly staff who were very attentive and made our night very special. Lovely fresh prawn cocktail with crispy leaves, delicious warm goats cheese tart follow by beautiful turkey dinner with all the trimmings and my brother loved the Cod and said the buttery sauce was delicious. Desserts of chocolate tart and toffee pudding was the perfect end to our meal. The wine was lovely and our server Holly was absolutely lovely to us and new just how to treat us, always knowing what we needed and when and never too pushy and we never felt rushed. The best meal we have had in ages. All your staff were wonderful but Hol...

"Me and my flatmates went to Naifs to celebrate one of our own's MA degree with a nice meal, and we are so glad that we did. Anne and the team were incredibly personable and friendly, which really stood out to us. As somebody who has worked many years in hospitality, one can tell that there is clearly a very tight-knit team at work here who does what they do out of and with love. We really enjoyed the concluding chat with the kitchen team about the amazingly delicious olive oil they served us with the bread it comes straight from the chef's uncle's olive plantation! The atmosphere was really lovely as well, and a lot of thought clearly went into it: there were lots of candles, soft light, beautiful serving plates. We found the decor very tasteful in general: the restaurant has a cozy, but elevated bistro feel to it which makes it the perfect place for a broad variety of occasions. We had the set menu, which at 27 GBP came at very good value. The menu really demonstrated just how colorful vegan and vegetarian spreads can be: the colors on the table alone were such a delight to behold! Needless to say it also all tasted amazing. We particularly liked the mushrooms in lemony broth, the dhal and the aubergine stew. Every dish had a creative spin on it that made it into something we had never tasted in that way before. The wine that was recommended to us was very nice as well. We finished our meal with a selection of British cheeses, which was very well put together. Naifs focuses on seasonal and regional ingedrients, which is another factor that really convinced us, and which is something that more restaurants should focus on. Whether you're a veggie or not: if you want to dine at an all around truly special place, you need to try Naifs. Keep up the awesome work, guys we will be back very, very soon."

"my friend and I went to capitulate for dinner to celebrate his birthday, as was capitula, we thought the only decent restaurant in blackheath. all the others seem to be pushing down quickly. we have been in the past often in the capitulas, and the food and services were good we had no appetizers and ordered only one main meal (black foam and black bell), because we were not huge hungry because we were eating a lot of birthday cakes earlier! we had a glass of wine and were offered a piece of bread. 35 minutes later we waited for our food. in this time no one came to ask if we were in order or offer us more drinks. I asked the manager if our food was ready. he said it would be 5 minutes without a statement of delay then disappeared 10 minutes later there was no sign of food or manager. That is why we decided to go because we lost interest in eating. we have to go and the manager came by. he told us the delay was due to a big party in the ground floor. this was not the case, there was a group of 8 people who had finished their meal for a long time. we were there earlier when it was much more business and the service was not so bad. while we waited, we saw a customer who had finished their meal, slipped £20 into the manager hand when he left. Perhaps the workers need bribe to provide good services? it is such a scandal, but another blackheath restaurant has become complicit and believes that it with the treatment of its customers without respect. I will vote for one with my feet and will not eat again in this restaurant. I will also leave everyone I don't know to go there"
