"I regret to say that the pub we visited today did not live up to the glowing reviews we had read. We went in for lunch this Saturday and found only four items on the menu—no sandwiches, paninis, or any enticing options. We all opted for the scampi and chips, while the other choices included a burger and chips, haloumi and salad, and one more dish that was utterly forgettable. The meals were extremely simple, akin to what one would serve children but in larger portions. To make matters worse, the two most appealing beers were unavailable due to a delivery issue. The atmosphere was lacking, and the best thing I can say is that everything was clean and the food was hot. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience."

This is our go-to spot, and over the years, we've enjoyed many drinks, participated in pub quizzes, and had dinner here. They offer a great selection from the local Berkshire Brewery...

Charming pub with excellent staff and delicious food. I chose to dine here due to my family's history with the Windebanks, and it turned out to be a delightful visit. Price per person: £70-£80. Food: 5/5, Service: 5/5, Atmosphere: 5/5. View menu

I had a wonderful Sunday roast with a fantastic selection of ales that was so delightful I almost forgot to write this review! The staff were friendly, and the atmosphere brought in a lovely crowd of locals. Personally, I tend to prefer a more refined experience...

We had a really lovely Sunday Lunch there today. The homemade soup was amazing followed by roast beef with Yorkshire pudding and several veg. Finally homemade apple crumble and real custard. We will be going again soon. Thanks to Vin and Gina for making the pub a place you just love to visit.

I would give this restaurant a minus one star. After a ten-mile hike, I arrived only to discover that they had decided not to open for lunch, which is completely different from the information on their website. The landlord does not deserve the public's business, and I certainly will not be returning. View menu

Started off with drinking an Ale. Choice of three. This was excellent. No issues with the quality. Driving do could only have the one. For lunch I ate fish and chips. This was excellent. The batter was light and crisp, the chips were chunky and excellent. A couple of nice sides, mint peas, mayo and tomato sauce. Another diner asked for French fries instead of chunky chips and received these. My partner went for two small dishes, Scotch egg made with a black pudding crust. The yolk was lovely and runny. Her other dish was some lovely prawns, presented in a bowl of sauce with chillies. She was very pleased. The service was pleasant, we were made to feel welcome.

A hidden jewel! Even if it is classified as a casual dining place, the quality of the food was impressive and the interior recalls a high-end dinner in London. The service was great and the staff were very helpful when it was about deciding what to eat. While we were waiting for our food, we had the opportunity to walk through the restaurant, which has a gallery of pictures depicting the village and the local landscapes. The duck for a starter had ordered a very good combination of aromas and herbs. The wine recommended to add the steak was also spot-on. After dinner we moved to the bar area where we dance and sing a live performance for some Friday nights. In any case, a visit would recomme...

"The Restaurant was a great find. Went there as a party of 3 for my birthday lunch treat today. The lunch menu has limited number of dishes compared to the evening one but are very well balanced. I have never seen kadhi chaval and channa jor garam on a uk restaurant menu, so well done for being so original. The restaurant is located nearest carpark 2, so best to park there. The restaurant decor has many traditional Rajisthani puppets hanging high above the restaurant entrance, nice touch. We ordered 3 starters (Street food) which we shared, they had the correct balance of sweet, hot and sour tastes, although I did compliment mine with additional tamrind, chilli and coriander sauces. We ordered different versions of the Thali. This was impressive indeed. The variety of items, presentation, flavour, temperature and amount of food served in the thali (the circular stinless steel plate) was perfection itself. Every dish had its own traditional Rajisthani unique flavour, could not fault it. Thank you Sohan for your personal courtesy you showed us, the table you had reserved for us, my birthday wishes and for having created a truely great, clean, restaurant with a memorable menu. This was amongst the very best food I have ever had, a great birthday feast. It was a true gastronomic delight for my tastebuds. The restaurant is now firmly on my agenda, a great find indeed.
