"Our December visit to Bernkastel was cold, but so it should be in winter. The Christmas market is clear and nice. A little warming could not hurt. So go straight to the well maintained Café Thiesen with well-stocked cake counter in the late afternoon. Café is understatement. The tables nicely covered with strengthened table cloths, the division of tables harmoniously. A large guest room is divided into nice plots, so there was also a certain privacy. Parking “before the door” can be forgotten here, but in the vicinity there is certainly always a place for the vehicle. Probably the boss greeted us nicely and gave us a Christmasly decorated 2 table. Something sweet could be, dinner was at the hotel later. The warm evening dishes served at the side tables looked very good. My husband ordered a cup of coffee to € 2.10 and I a glass, 0.2 l, fine Riesling (almost in short vacation) to € 3.50. The apple sauce with vanilla ice cream and cream at € 3.70 was served shortly later and tasted great. The strudel is delivered by the local confectionery, as and the boss reported. The finesse: At the bottom a grape vinegar that does not pass through and on top gold-yellow crispy foliage. I have never eaten this before, is also not original, but a great and tasty idea. In between a fine juicy apple filling. Applestrudel with vanilla ice cream Served on black 80s cellar with decorative powder sugar pollination. Very fine and the portion larger than it acts on the photo. We've been nice with a little chat. Here I would like to order a “right” meal next time. A really good impression, the Thiesen!"

Meal is tasty. Various dishes with meat, soups, desserts. Service is great, very friendly. And the prices are lower in comparison with other restaurants near to this place

Fantastic local food served at a very reasonable price. Served by friendly and accommodating staff. We enjoyed the goulash, onion soup to start. The homemade sausage was served as a think patty, perfectly grilled. The breaded pork loin with mushroom cream sauce was hearty ...delicious. A fabulous meal in lovely surroundings

Went here due to the high rating. However,... It smells like a bar inside. It looks not very nice inside either. There were small flies, big flies and mosquitoes flying around and you heard several customers trying to catch them. Food was OK but small...sizes. The Asian waitress was very friendly and helpful. Never again though...

This restaurant has reopened and is practicing social distancing. But other than that, it is very good service and the food is excellent value for the price. We had the Putenschnitzel Turkey Schnitzel and the Zanderfilet auf Graewes Zanderfilet served with a combination of mashed...potatoes and sauerkraut. Quantities are large. Food is perfectly cooked. Very good meal

We were driving through the Mosel Valley on a Saturday lunchtime and decided to stop off in Bernkastel. As it is February many cafes and restaurants were closed for the season, but we were please to find Café Theisen Open for business. Good value menu,...with starters, mains and desserts. Tip: Prawn and fish Flammkuchen think thin crust pizza washed down with a glass of house dry Riesling wine! Friendly staff and excellent service, and apologies for breaking the bread plate! Highly recommended

I had not visited BernkastelKues or the Café Theisen for about three and a half years. However, I found this past weekend that the food remains excellent, the service friendly and attentive, and the cost for a great German meal still somewhat less expensive at...this restaurant when compared to others in this touristy town. I highly recommend you have a quiet, relaxing meal at this café after strolling the Mosel riverside cobblestoned backalleys and small shops. A good choice to revive yourself with food and drink and escape the summer crowds. MY favorite place in BernkastelKues

"We had made it 120 km in five and a half stages from Trier to Traben-Trarbach. Filled with several beautiful views, some sweating slope, some bottles mostly very good moss wines and many new impressions. Around 2 pm we reached the end of this year's autumn hike, the bridge between Traben and Trarbach. Until the departure of our train back to the local Münsterland we had time to eat, back in Rheine it would have become too late for it. From the bridge we looked down the river and saw various gastronomy facilities. The kitchen of the first destination, the new Moselschlösschen had already closed and pointed to its own pavilion on the shore with onion cake. But in the last few days, we had eaten them enough, we felt like a good lunch. So continue the waterfront down to the Hotel Bellevue. There we saw the map of the hotel restaurant with the hint of a small overnight card . We were a little insecure whether the hotel restaurant would host us even after heavy 120 km and accordingly no longer perfectly socially capable appearance. Our question about a place on the terrace, inside we would not have eaten in view of the elevated ambience, but was positive and very courteously friendly (of course they can eat with us... answered. So we took a seat on the terrace of Mosel and enjoyed this Art Nouveau building in all its facets. One should take the time, even if only terrace guest is to look at the house inside and outside. I've never seen a more magnificent Art Nouveau building in my life! I would have liked to take some of the table lamps inside! Also my wife was gone and gone.... The excellently trained service included the table in gloves and handed us the small afternoon card. A bottle of water and two glasses of dry Riesling (Peter Kallfelz Hochgewächs were ordered quickly. The small card can be seen on the HP of the hotel, we ordered from it: Appetizer: Hearty Moselish marmitschesuppe (Kalbfleisch, Paprika, Onion, Kraut Saure Sahne € 7 Consommé vom Rind Herbal Fledle, Vegetables € 7 Both soups were well prepared, Madame was happy to finally taste a good appetizer again. My marital soup (I can only type this, not speak out reminded a little of my grandma's goulash in childhood days, very deculent, spicy, but after 120 km in the legs exactly the right, it was delicious. As main course: Dried beef tongue Rieslingsauce, parsley potatoes € 16 Fried slices of napkin dumpling on mushroom cream sauce € 14 Madame was able to taste her dumplings and had nothing to do with taste and preparation. After 6 days of Moselkit, I had a desire for something special and ordered the tongue, again a memory of childhood when tongue was served after the slaughter days. A wonderfully delicately cooked tongue in approx. 1 cm thick slices were served, the soup soup was excellent. This court was a worthy conclusion of our hike on the Moselle. Two espresso formed the conclusion. We are already thinking about continuing the hike from Traben-Trarbach and wondering if the Hotel Bellevue also lets hikers return for one night. This was chased and firm when we continue to hike the Moselsteig, Hotel Bellevue will be our starting point. Also on a hike upscale gastronomy is always a pleasure!"
