"Last night I decided to try the Riva Fish and Wine restaurant. Only open 3 weeks and it shows. The design of the small space is sleek and modern in shades of grey with touches of natural wood. The owners are from Sicily and the menu has Italian-influenced dishes as well as lots of fish choices. I ordered 3 raw oysters to start. And waited .... and waited. I thought they flew over to France to pick them up. The waitress came by and was extremely apologetic and gave me a free glass of wine for the trouble. I ordered grilled salmon and tomato salad as my side. Again, there was a very long wait for my meal and when it finally came - it was the wrong! They served me the tuna entree in error. More apologies from the owner and another glass of wine. The waitress came by again and apologized for mixing up the order. She insisted on a dessert on the house for the issue with the main course. Finally the correct entree arrived. The fish was cooked perfectly and it was accompanied by a small green salad. The tomato salad, consisting of red and green tomatoes, while quite festive, was tasteless. It was literally sliced tomatoes with nothing added. The waitress had the chef make a special dessert which was some sort of zabayone and chocolate. It was light and flavorful. They also brought me a coffee (soon my whole meal would be free). When the bill arrived the tuna entree was listed instead of the salmon so the waitress went back to correct it. Perhaps I was just the unlucky diner. Or the restaurant isn't in a groove yet and they are still working out all the kinks. The staff was very responsive to all the mix-ups and provided good service (which wouldn't happen if they were German). I come to Berlin frequently for work so I will try it again in a few months and see if the kinks have been ironed out."
