"A warm welcome is assured by Bei Cha* at her Hunanese establishment. Hunan is a region noted for its use of chili peppers as well as being the birth place of Chairman Mao! Well located in the down town centre the venue is opposite the Radisson hotel and flanks the new and vast pedestrian zone. You'll find a young, modern atmosphere, lots of Chinese punters and good food. Some specialities need to be ordered ahead as they take time to prepare: the Lotus leaf steamed glutinous rice with spare ribs is one ... and that's tasty so worth the effort. Look for the Mini Woks especially the cauliflower one for veggies! Take away's are possible. Lunch-time trade is brisk. Evenings, parking is feasible nearby. L'Opera de la Monnaie is close at hand, not to mention the passage St.Hubert. A pleasantly informal restaurant we enjoy going to regularly for good value and genuine Chinese food. *not sure how to spell the name!"

The Canard Piquant was great not too spicy but with a range of tastes and a little bite. I was the only gweilo (apologies if that's not the correct description) and that's always a promising indication.

We had a great meal. Dumplings and calamari for entree and a beef dish and prawn dish with steamed rice for main. We took the advice from the very helpful waitress to get the best dishes and were not disappointed. Great use of chilli loved it all. We only got one picture because we we're too busy eating once they both came.

We went there for lunch on weekend with some expectations according to the good reviews on tripadvisor, but it turned out the food is just average. We can taste that the food is freshly made but the flavour is not that as remarkable as we expected. The waitress was kind enough though. As we were the only customers at there the food came out pretty fast.

Many people may not know the fine distinction of cuisine from different parts of China. Here you will get the food from the native of Chairman Mao's birth place. If you want really spicy food in Brussels, come and try it here. The dishes are authentic and cannot be found elsewhere in Belgium. Remember to take everything: starter, main course and dessert!

We have followed the recommendation of Tripadvisor and had a lunch in this restaurant. Only disappointment ! We ordered the boiled beef as main course in which we only find several small slices of beef without flavor. The other plate were also mediocre. The chef was very aggressive and ungracious when the problem has been pointed out. To avoid for sure if you don't want to spoil your weekend ! You will certainly have much better choice with the same price in Brussels !

One of the best chinese meals I ever had. Non of the westernised dishes here, but authentic food, with proper seasoning. Staff is extremely friendly and obviously very proud to serve this food. Apparently they rotate chefs every couple of months, and only chefs who have had a particular kind of education in China are allowed to make dishes from this region. Don't get discouraged by the strange exterior or 80's interior, but go in (or book in advance), you won't be disappointed.

I have ordered the boiled fish and the mao's meat. The boiled fish is what impressed me most. It is with Zanthoxylum and dry hot pepper, bean sprout is at the bottom. Even though there is not so much fish, nor many vegetables. I have to say this is delicious and authentic, and I gave my scores mainly based on this. Mao's meat is in average. The color is too dark, the taste is too salty in terms of Chinese flavor. The annoying thing is that we have found a piece of meat with nipple on it. Oh... that really sucks. The soup is ordinary.
