"We've had a few takeaway meals from here and never been disappointed. Food always arrives on time (usually earlier than stated) and is still hot. Good prices and the use of silver trays rather than those plastic ones means the curry sauce doesn't go too watery with condensation. The lamb puri starter is a favourite, rich sauce and tender lamb. Especially when you drizzle a bit of the charred fresh lemon slice on it. Onion baji are great value and tasty. Lamb tikka chilli masalla is a winner. Tasty, hot, rich sauce spicy with fresh green chilli. Mopped up with a peshwari naan is really a really good combo. The mushroom rice is flavoursome too. Free poppadoms and freshly chopped onions, cucumber and coriander to go with them. Cheers Sonar!"

One of the best currys I've had. Chicken madras, nagha and korma currys were all amazing, bombay potatoes were brilliant and rice was perfect. Definitely recommend.

Just received a takeaway from sonar and it was the best Indian takeaway I have ever had. It was delivered on time and was very hot. Presented like you would get in the restaurant. Cannot wait to be able to go back in the restaurant when Covid 19 is over. Thank you so much. View menu

We have been here a few time before going to the Regent. It’s fabulous. The food is amazing. The service excellent. Some of the nicest food we have found, and lovely people. It’s small and you need to take your own alcohol if required. Personally I’d order a lassi It’s not the most beautiful restaurant but it’s fabulous food Amazing

Hass and his team have been serving the Ipswich and Suffolk community for years. Their food is always fresh, extremely tasty and offers a huge variety with fantastic value for money. Their delivery service is 2nd to none observing all health and safety at the moment and acting super professional. Don’t go anywhere else. Highly recommended!

Placed a telephone order for a home delivery during the latest U.K. storm. Delivered about 40 minutes later, as indicated when ordering. Food was still hot, and more importantly absolutely delicious. This was about our 5th or 6th “take out” from this restaurant, and have been impressed with the service and quality of food every time. Two mains, three sides plus two naan around £23.50 (free delivery). View menu

Haven't eaten in, but have ordered takeaway for delivery from here 4 or 5 times now. Without fail it's been excellent. Very good value in the current climate, a wide range of dishes and proper flavours. The delivery times quoted are reasonable, and it has always arrived on or before when they've said. Good service too, from the person who takes the phone order to the delivery guys everyone's friendly and efficient. Wouldn't normally review a place for takeaway, but this deserves it.

First time sit down although have had several take always from here. Booked a table for 5 at 7pm. Parking at the rear of the restaurant. When we arrived there was a guy who had just got out of parking enforcement marked van and had started to check for overstayers. Polite and professional service. Ordered 5 poppadoms, 5 mains (vegetable Madras, king prawn sag, chicken jalfrezi, chicken dopiaza, vegetable biryani), 2 pershwari naans, 1 meat naan, aubergine curry, Dahl masala, 2 x onion bhajee, 2 rice and 3 lemonades. My wife took a couple of freezing cold lagers for us to drink. Everything absolutely wonderful and well worth the £91 spent. Highly recommended.

"Checking in to a hotel in an unfamiliar place, it is tempting to book one 's first evening meal in the hotel 's restaurant (unless, of course, one has had chance to research the alternatives beforehand . This may seem a safe option, but is often a mistake, as it was on my visit to Ipswich. Had I only known that a minute 's walk along the quayside would have taken me to Mariners, I should have eaten there twice rather than only once! A floating restaurant can often prove to be a bit of a gimmick, but Mariners seemed to get good reviews so, on night two, I gave it a try. A beautifully restored and maintained Dutch customs gunboat from 1900, with gleaming brass and polished woodwork, the restaurant offers a limited, but well-constructed, menu to satisfy most tastes. Being aboard a boat, I opted for seafood, and was not disappointed. There being an R in the month , mussels were a good choice for my starter, followed by a seafood skewer , presented with just enough theatre to be amusing but not over the top. Not fine dining , perhaps, but well-prepared, nicely presented and very satisfying dishes at reasonable prices. A limited wine list, perhaps a bit on the pricey side, but the Picpoul de Pinet proved to be an excellent accompaniment without over-stressing the credit card. Service struck just the right balance between politeness and friendliness. My fellow diners embraced the whole age spectrum (I was by far the oldest! weighted perhaps towards the younger end, the common factor being that everyone (myself included was clearly enjoying themself. There are many other dining venues along the Ipswich quayside that my brief visit did not allow me to try, but Mariners can be recommended as a safe and enjoyable bet."
