"I went for lunch at the restaurant on recommendation from one of our group who is Chinese. As two of us are learning Chinese, we wanted to have a taste of authentic Chinese food and also attempt to speak some Mandarin.... The manager was very patient with us : Despite past experiences of a few Chinese takeaways and mediocre Chinese buffets in Leicester, I went with an open mind. The restaurant looks so unassuming from the outside and if you live in the city, you may have as I have passed it several times totally unaware of it 's brilliance. In the restaurant most no, all bar two of us dining there were Chinese, many of whom were students. Do not let that put you off! It was certainly a positive thing as the food was so good. We didn 't feel out of place at all and had good service. The interior is small, maybe 9 or so tables but it didn 't feel cramped even though tables are quite close. The menu has both Chinese and English descriptions so do not fear! Make a note of the numbers beside each dish so you can remember you favourite dishes for next time. It was overwhelming to see so many dishes on the menu and we struggled to decide what to choose as we wanted much more than we could eat! There were some unusual options like frog and offal but hey, it 's good to be open minded and appreciate other cultures. Once we (finally! chose our food, it came out in about 10 or so minutes! Some dishes we had included: *Sliced lamb with green spring onion in a sauce (super succulent and tasty! *Shanghai style pork cutlets (think German schnitzel/Japanese tonkatsu. Basically breaded pork chops cut into strips. This was a ma zing. Crispy, not at all greasy and the sweet dipping sauce?! So so good! *couple of small bowls rice one veg and one mixed meat and seafood one with the juiciest prawns. We shared the food between us. They will give cutlery but have a go at the chopsticks first! I am no expert but we all insisted on trying and it was great fun even though rice was a bit tricky to handle! Tips: *If you ask for water it will be tap water at room temperature so remember to ask for ice if you want it. *rice goes un the small bowl and if you choose plain rice it is refillable! Think of it as a bottomless bowl (ask the staff which one on it is on the menu *scan the QR code on the menu for any discounts available via the WeChat app *don 't get caught out, take enough cash or it 's a trek to the nearest ATM! *be adventurous and try something different on the menu beyond chow mein and special fried rice. *share your dishes with friends it makes it so much more fun *take a copy of the FULL list menu from the counter, not just the short list of British favourites you will be coming back or ordering takeaway from here."
