"we arrived 5 minutes before our booked time and were told that our table was not completely finished. that was no problem at all, so we sat at the bar and had a drink. 10 minutes went by and we saw the 2 people on the table we later sat on holiday. 10 minutes left without someone coming to us, so we asked about our table. it was clear that we were forgotten and finally showed on our table. that was not waiting with cleaning the table etc. when others came and went while we were waiting. no good start! We knew what we ordered, so order immediately. 1 bratbeef and a nice wellington. eating came incredibly fast, even before our drinks (within 5 minutes.) the sweet wellington was tasteful, but was drained by the stone kartoffels and soggy yorkshire pudding. the bark was quite fat and with only 2 rather thin slices. we mentioned the bratkartoffeln and yorkshire pudding on the waitress, who then brought a little more. the bratkartoffeln were exactly the same. it was clear they've been standing for a long time, like the Yorkshire puddings. the waitress asked if we like one dessert, we rejected and asked only for the bill that was also given to us in quite abrupt wise. when paying premium prices, they expect a good service and high quality food. this was unfortunately missing from both accounts. I hope it was just one way out, as I know that other people here have made good experiences. I'm afraid we won't hurry to come back."

I chose this pub after trying two others that were fully booked and I’m so glad I did. The roast pork Sunday lunch was absolutely amazing. It was the best pub roast I can remember having. The service was absolutely great too. Very impressed.

recently on the hill. I ordered the pork roast dinner, the pork was pink and the crack was out of a small pork cratzer the pudding was warm and not hot, the Irish waiter spoke very loud to the point that was very annoying...The service was very good.

We went to the Star and Garter on Friday night and Sunday lunchtime. Really good food, friendly staff, great selection of beers and all very reasonably priced. The Sunday roast dinner was particularly good!! Would definitely recommend and visit again. View menu

Went for Sunday lunch at the weekend and the food was incredible. We were a table of 6 and all of us really enjoyed the food! The service felt slow at times but I guess Sundays that can happen! There were enough staff on but...all had a very relaxed approach, which I can understand. Would recommend!

We were all very pleased with our food from the festive menu. The tri tip steak was succulent, perfectly cooked to medium and very tasty The pie was a ‘proper pie’ sitting atop the mash and veg majestically and equally tasty enough for royalty The...Thai red curry was hot and spicy, good chunks of veg but a little disappointing in flavour. The puddings were great and service very good and friendly.

on Saturday afternoon evening there weren't many employees, but the dame that served us worked out their socks to make sure all their tables had everything they needed. I think her name was maddie and she was great. I took my mother for... an early mother's lunch and we had netzen followed by a coffee and with a sweet tasty bite (mini brownie and ice cream) with him for dessert, we also had two of their mosque tails that were on place. in the course of the years I have visited a series of times and have never been left behind, they serve qualitatiw good eating and have workers who supply great customer service. We visited on Saturday lunchtime and throughout the over 2 hours we spent there, it's impossible to come up with one thing we didn't like (not that I was trying to find fault...there just weren't any). Our wait staff (particularly the Latvian lady) were excellent,...friendly and really efficient. The food was outstanding, plentiful and delicious. The atmosphere was relaxed, informal and visually interesting. I chose this location pretty much at random, as we were visiting from out of town with some friends we hadn't seen for over two years, and we all said how lovely it had all been. Thanks very much. Would 100% recommend for grown-ups, quiet conversation, ease of access, food, good central...

have eaten very impressed here before and in general. decided to try her Sunday roast beef dinner. it was fantastic. I asked for well-made bark meat and that's exactly what I got. then extra bratkartoffeln and yorkshire puddings were offered. a beautiful supplement. but a small...criticism about the meal of my man. he had previously had the coq au Riesling court and had enjoyed it so much that he decided that he would do this again instead of a Sunday roast. he was disappointed that the part was small with hardly any sauce. I gave him my extra brat potatoes to make sure he had enough to eat. this meal was £19.50 and it was not worth it. the service was excellent with friendly staff. a great...
