"I don’t normally do reviews or queues but what was meant to be a nice afternoon coffee experience turned into a bit of a drama-rama. The coffee shop looked half empty so i thought i would wait. I managed to gain entry (its not exactly...afternoon tea at the Ritz, more like laptops from the Leas and shelves filled with books no one will ever read, ironic to say the least) and then the whole nice afternoon coffee experience deteriorated. Although there were empty tables and seats i think because of the wait in the queue the customer anticipation and desire for a table led to hyped up feelings similar to that of a new iPhone release at the Apple store, or waiting to gain entrance to a Dua Lipa concert, it was all very intense but not like a good double espresso intense. like a middle class street gangs of Saltwood intense, tweed burns and macramé save the planet biodegradable shopping bags, all i wanted was to purchase a flat white and a nice slice of cake. I was hoping for ambience to go with my almond milk macchiato and instead i had irate customers laying claim to empty tables, total discombobulation as to who is sitting where etc. A little piece of Shoreditch library selling coffee and cake by the sea. Next time i will take some Mr Kiplings French Fancies and a flask of coffee when on a saunter down the Old High Street in my woollen beanie hat, raw salvage Japanese denim jeans, Stella McCartney Mountain boots, loden cape and pointless rucksack and politely bypass the queue for Steep Street, abd smile to myself in the knowledge that at least my blood pressure will be at a normal level and resist the temptation to form part of the queue just to buy a coffee and cake. But then again it was that out there as an experience i might try again."

If I was to open a coffee shop it would be just like this. Really friendly staff, superb selection of cakes and a perfect cup of coffee. Highly recommended

The coffee here is particularly good, and the portions of cake massive. Add in the fact it's dog-friendly, and that the walls are lined with an eclectic mix of books, and I'm hooked. View menu

Really love the size of the cake, coffee selection and the space has amazing books and chalk board tables to keep you entertained. Take away is available too and the staff are lovely and good energy.

this is always a place we visit when we are in folkestone. friendly service, large coffee and packed with old and interesting books that are also available for good trips. like all coffee shops that have bought a good call, it can be difficult to get a table, but it is worth staying. taste the cakes, all homemade and a great variety available. I have been here before and I like the ambience, the coffee is OK but overpriced and I did order something called a spicy ginger loaf at £2.40. It wasn't spicy, it was hardly ginger and it certainly wasn't a loaf or part of one....It was a very tiny slice of something flat, hard and chewy. A waste of money just for the privilege of being in somewhere trendy'.

Don’t get me wrong: I’m not here to make people feel bad, but when it comes to coffee I have a very short fuse. Now here’s the deal: when you advertise yourself as a speciality roaster who is number one in town… well, it sort...of means you have to get your ducks in a row. And I’m not talking ducklings, like offering 3 ! sizes for the flat white (even though any purists visiting the place might want to burn some scented vegan candles just for that), but proper mom duck and dad duck issues: like milk temperature. Yes, I said it: I can live with random sizes on coffees (hey, it’s almost 2022 or even having to queue outside to be invited in to be able to order (just so they can have the “covid...

"When we talk to people about where we live and places to eat, we are proud to always mention Sotirios as one of Folkestone’s treasures. Sotirios thoroughly deserves its reputation as one of the highest rated places to eat in Kent. We have loved going to Sotirios for several years now and will continue to do so for years to come. We tend to go for special occasions such as birthdays, valentines, and romantic date nights. If you mention when booking what the occasion is, they always do something to make your visit extra special. The food is delicious especially the main courses such as the Lamb Shank, the Vegetable Moussaka, and the Halibut. We always recommend Sotirios to people who are looking for fantastic food of a Greek, Mediterranean and British fusion cuisine. The setting itself is a perfect ambience for what we look for in a nice restaurant. It’s well lit but still dim enough to be a relaxing and warm space. Very nicely decorated and laid out, and always very clean. On top, for us, is the service. Sotirios is a family run restaurant and you absolutely get that vibe in the best of ways from the moment you walk in. It’s co owned by a father and two of his sons, who all work there and play various roles in combination with the rest of the team. You’re usually greeted by Lucas or Alex sons of the founder, Costas. If you’re not, you will definitely meet them during your visit as they clearly make a point to greet and check in on everybody. Costas also joins the front of house team and waits tables which, for me, completes the family run vibe. I am sure Costas is very proud of his team and what they have accomplished, and they fully deserve all of the praise and recognition they get. Parking: Facing the restaurant, to the right hand side is a small car park with a handful of spaces. Note that you should not park there before 6pm as I think it is shared with local residents. If you are not lucky enough to get a spot, try Manor Road we’ve never failed to find parking there."
