"Last Tuesday a family member booked and PAID A DEPOSIT for table in the restaurant for the following Saturday for 11 people for a special family meal. At 1245hrs on the Saturday of the meal she received a call asking if it was ok to move us to a table in the bar as they now had bookings for two other large parties. She agreed to this. On arriving on Saturday evening we found the bar completely full and extremely noisy due to football being on the tv. Our table was actually 2 separate tables set apart from each other. There were children in our party Taylors were aware of this at the time of booking and again earlier in the afternoon when the booking was altered and were then informed that it was not possible for children to go into the bar area. The person in charge tried to blame this mess on a new junior member of staff. She then tried to offer us a meeting room upstairs which smelled old and stale and added she could put music on if we wanted to, we declined this offer. No apology offered by the rude manager who was unconcerned about the inconvenience to 11 people at 1830hrs on a Saturday evening, many who had travelled some distance to be there. AVOID AT ALL COSTS Thankfully we were accommodated at the Corner House just a short walk down the road where the staff couldn't have been more helpful by giving us an area of the restaurant that they had already set up for a function the following day."

Excellent food, friendly bubbly service, something for everyone on the ample menu, good portion sizes with food and drinks priced fairly. Better than the Corner House IMO

Very enjoyable meal here, good food excellent portion sizes, enough to fill but not to bursting point. Lovely staff too, although as it was very busy, it took longer to get our order but that’s too be expected. Would’ve rated 5 if the people at the bar hadn’t been so loud we could hardly hear ourselves.

Took forever to get a drinks order then forever to get a food order. Then forever to get more drinks orders. Had to go searching for staff to order. Place wasn't even busy so no excuse. Food was ok although saute potatoes were missing from steak pie and a quarter onion and two slices of corgette is hardly a portion of veg.

Our experience at this restaurant was terrible. The establishment also functions as a bar/nightclub. The noise in our room was intolerable, leading us to leave. Despite being assured a refund, we did not receive one, and our attempts to contact them have been ignored. The atmosphere of the place felt incredibly unsafe, and I have no intention of ever returning.

I was in with family for a birthday dinner, food was lovely, pity the same can't be said about the table service, had to ask three times for ordered drinks, spoons were flung down with no napkins. My mum was back in on Friday and the table service was worse, took ages to get served no spoon was given for soup, then had to ask for a fork for the main. The restaurant wasn't busy as we were the only people in, but staff said they were run off their feet. Shocking service!! Food was good though.

I was shocked when they informed me that I had to buy my own shower gel, which has never happened to me at any other place. The bedding was dirty with blood stains on the sheets. However, the food was good and the atmosphere in the bar was great. This visit occurred shortly after the smoking ban was introduced in Scotland in 2006. I wonder if things have improved in the 14 years since then. To be honest, Kilwinning is not the most pleasant town in Scotland. For a more serene experience, I suggest trying Arran.

"Magic sea. we went about 6 months ago after fins had threatened for years. that was worth waiting for us to arrive a little early before they had changed the prices on the boards, that was lucky because they had the decision to offer us the meal times at the price at the arrival, result. to every way back to the foods that the woman had the scalopps and black pudding and I had the langoustines. I was a little confused by the cutlery laid in front of me, pliers and a funny fork, but it was good when I asked the waitress what I should do with it and she showed me pretty happy. the scallops were amazing and it was that really beautiful black pudding so a great start for them. what had done me well, I had never eaten longoustine before, but I had to go right in and it was a great experience and the taste was just beautiful. large mmmm in our bauch. the most important courses were turbot for me and the missus chose the sea bass. the food was beautifully presented and it was smaller that I thought it was, but I had never eaten somewhere in that posh before. Anyway, both can have beautiful vegien and we both came into them and we were not dissappointed it was perfectly cooked. the turbot was the softest spruce I've ever had and the taste was amazing. the sea bass came with I think noodles and she loved it. everything was beautiful and relaxed and none of the unem emphasized that you sometimes find when you can be a little bit on yourself in the leading restaurants, but here it was not at all. about all this was a nice place to eat, a wee bit expensive but they get great service and beautiful environment. dylan"
