"I love pubs! How many times do you hear that? I only properly discovered them 18 years ago because in France, although we have our cafes, they are nothing like pubs. I fairly quickly categorised them because when you think about it, they are all different. The best description for me for this one is a town pub full of character. I discovered it thanks to a friend and started going to hold a French Conservation group. I have only had drinks so far and believe me if you are after reasonable prices you have to go to the Gladstone. I have recently paid £2 in another place for a soda and lime. Here they charge you £0.30. And before you ask, no, it's not because it's served in a shot glass. When you enter the premises you will notice first the space. It has got room but you also can decide to sit in a smaller area. There is a fire place which is really nice especially at this time if the year. I went last Saturday to meet with a friend and we decided to have something to eat. If you want a night out but your are on restricted budget this is the place where to go. Ok the menu doesn't give you a massive choice as some do but in fact think about it, it won't take you too long to make your decision. The choice is good and the prices quite low. If you are vegetarian they certainly have thought about you. I am not but to be fair I've always wondered why the choices seem to be so restricted for those who are when eating out? I ended with the chilly beef and cheese. I like the fact you can choose to have it with rice or bread. The serving is good and I really enjoyed it. It was very tasty. The staffs work hard, are very pleasant and easy to interact with which is exactly what you want in a pub. It's a place with great atmosphere. And if you enjoy watching tv in a pub this is certainly the place where to go. It was a very reasonable and enjoyable night out. I'll be back!"

"Our party of 9 had a family meal yesterday Sunday and, having called in to have a Noodle bar meal a few days before, checked to find out how they could cope with two persons who would need advice as one Vegan and the other with Lactose intolerance, nothing containing tomatoes and no fresh fruit. Separate meals of ample a proportions and great selection provided especially for them and we had the usual Buffet choice which was great. Very caring and personal attention. Service not found too often but appreciated by us. Also compare prices with others, this is very reasonable. Speak as you find !!"

"I just returned from a trip to the south with my friend, and I was really hungry. We spotted a sign for the Highwayman Pub, marked with a knife and fork symbol, and decided to check it out. It was around 8:30 PM, and to our surprise, they were happy to serve us at that hour. The staff made us feel incredibly welcome, which I can't emphasize enough, especially since none of us had been there before. I had a fantastic steak, while my friend’s mother enjoyed a burger that she rated very highly. The portion sizes were generous, especially with the chips, and the atmosphere was relaxed and quiet, making it quite comfortable. I highly recommend this place!"

"Utterly fantastic food ,best carvery I've had for years .Staff very helpful ....doing the best they can in cramped conditions ...Table booked at 1.30 finally got seated at 2 20 ran out of time for afters (car park closes early on Sundays Shame for us and them as they lost the sale of 13 afters ! Feel sorry for the staff ...as I always try and give a fair review .It was utter chaos entering people everywhere juggling for seats .We expected it to be busy as it was Mother's Day .....but this was another level .The first course we had was fantastic ! Well done Chef and serving staff !"

"Visited for a meal as we are local, The food was fresh (which was good as there was half an hour wait for it) The pub is clean and the staff are friendly, but I do feel the meals are a bit overpriced for pub...grub'. It would be nicer if there was a family room as children running up and down screaming is not conducive to a relaxing atmosphere."
