"We had a difficult journey and felt that 4pm was late to be admitted. As its not open there's no choice. Room was comfortable and spotlessly clean, the bathroom gleamed. Never found the Alexa, must have been her day off. Disappointed to get down for evening meal, and walk ins got better tables. We were directed to a gloomy part, but luckily somebody left so we asked for a better view. We found the meal was the worst of the holiday. Husband's tempura prawns were in a heavy batter. Should be light . I've never seen a Caesar salad like it. Bland pieces of chicken on top of some lettuce leaves, shavings of parmesan, and 4 slices of bread stuck on top. Should be croutons and tossed in a dressing. My lasagne hadn't much taste, and just had cheese on top. It looked like a ready meal bought in. Didn't risk dessert. Not risking a return visit either."

I would recommend booking if you wish to eat here, as it is popular. We ate an evening meal here. The service was good and the food was excellent. If in the area I would definitely go again.

Simply amazing. Firstly the location is incredible, wildlife, outdoor swimming pool designed like a pond. Peace and quiet, stars in the sky. Phill was amazing, very patient man and very kind . The log cabins design is very modern and stylish. Not a spec of dirt. Hot tub is an added bonus. Too much to mention. This is a must see. Also the food was great too. Rooms: The log cabins are amazing, a must see Nearby activities: Not much going on , not nearby anyway Safety: Extremely safe Walkability: Very Food drinks: Food and drink is of a high quality Noteworthy details: Very modern, you will not be disappointed

What a find! Stumbled across the Baron when driving near Shropshire and what a piece of luck that was. First up, the garden rooms are simply spectacular. A private haven, with glorious views and the attention to detail of everything in and around the accommodation is second to none. Then the food and drink again, simply top notch. Finally, the service the team were great so attentive yet hugely respectful of the fact that guests will want privacy. How we found this place, we don't know, but we'll definitely be back and if you want a stay away that is a unique treat, then I cannot recommend The Baron highly enough. We'll definitely be back!

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."
