"We have visited the Wheel many times before and therefore have a good idea of the experience we can expect. We recently visited with friends to catch-up and arrived circa so not late by evening dinning standards. Wine and beer was swiftly ordered and...served to the table with a smile from the waitress. of the party of went with starters, they we served quickly and very scrummy. Not too long after the mains were bought out, pasta dishes and one fish dish. Pasta dishes were all cooked to perfection however the fish dish was below par. The rissoto it was served on was dry and looked like it had been loitering in the kitchen waiting for the fish to decide to leap out of the pan or due to the size of the piece of fish the chef was having difficulty catching it in the pan. What ever the reason was it was not a pleasant, enjoyable plate of food. Conversation flowed and by now it was close to before we ordered desserts, we all had something different and to be honest the only dish that received praise was the Eatonmess, the other three dishes we not what I would expect, especially considering the price charged the Bakewell tart had obviously been heated so much the base was like concrete and the jam like sticky glue, the sticky toffee pudding certainly need more toffee flavor and the crumble lacked flavour, was very wet and left under the grill too long so was just starting to catch and burn. Not the best experience, the Chef and the management need to get back to ensuring the attention to detail is carried throughout the meal from start to finish, with all elements being served with love and care!"

Went for meal at this very busy pub. Very unfriendly and to be honest rude staff. Food l have to say was good and well presented. All l can say is if your staff are not happy I their job, replace them.

We had a table of six which was fine . Ordered meals starters were great . Mains came looked great three out of the party loved there meals which were off the specials board . But the pie was dry and disappointing the ribeye steak...was tuff and chewy the chips consisted of mainly the dry end bits which was a shame as the rest of the meal was fine . Pudding was cold .

We booked a table and when we got there found it was in a very nice part of the room. We order our food and didn't have to wait too long. My meal wasn't brilliant. my husband order a fish dish which he didn't really...enjoy. The meal was rather expensive for what it was. The next day my husban didn't feel well within hours he got a very bad stomack upset which need medical advise this could only have been his meal has we had eaten the same thing except for this meal out. We won't be going again.

during a fantastic visit we were warmly welcome and shown on our comfortable table, the feeling of the restaurant was warm and friendly and our server amelia made us relaxed and welcome. the food was really good, the appetizers of brot and oliven were great,...big pieces of warm brot and a large bowl of oil, with a good part of oliven, and the garlauchbrot was tasty. on the main and the lamb special was really special, beautiful delicate lamb and a teller full of grooms, we cannot comment on desserts because we had no room for one left, we will definitely be back soon. beautiful evening with the family at this place. it was not for some time to eat there, but not disappointed. I had chickens from the special menu. it was delicious and the size of the portion was very good. two of our party had bullshit, another lasagne and another Cajun chicken. not complaining of someone. only three of us had dessert. cheesecake for me Bakewell tar for another and chocolate tart. the desserts are quite expensive, but again the portion sizes are good and I could certainly not complain because I was allowed not only the orange sorbet, but also an extra vanilleeis. chloe was one of our waiters and was especially helpful and very accommodating in the evening. there was a posi...

We visited the wheel today for a family meal, the food was great I had the roast lamb my wife had the roast beef and our youngest had fish and chip, again the food was excellent. Now for the bad bit, during this time of...covid when business have struggled to follow guidance we opened a door for some ventilation, the family sat near us just kept tutting and mitring to the my wife felt so uncomfortable she closed the door, it was only open I asked her to reopen the door just to be asked by one of the people from the near table could we close it, when I pointed out to the fool, I mean gentleman that it is government guidelines for crowded areas to be well ventilated he suggested we sit outside...

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."
