"Called in at lunch time. Was fairly busy. Lovely atmosphere. The two waitresses looked after us from the time we walked in to when we left. Very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Both myself and my wife opted for the small plates option. Really good value at £10. Filled us up. Then we had another drink outside. The garden area is beautiful. Had a really nice chilled out afternoon. Will be making this a regular visit from now on."

This venue is a hidden gem, it's like a Tardis much bigger inside than it looks, has an excellent choice of country style meals and light meals of sandwiches with chips fries, eat in or out very comfortable outside eating area. The bar is very well stocked.

We recently had a Christmas party at the Chetwode Arms and we were extremely satisfied with our experience. The food was delicious and the service was prompt. We definitely plan on coming back again. Many thanks to Angela, Izzy, and the rest of the team for a wonderful evening!

Visited on a busy Sunday lunch. We hadn't booked but were found a table quickly. Drinks arrived promptly. Food was superb, all home cooked and well presented. Try this pub, food and service were top notch! And the outside area is lovely especially on a sunny day and the children were happily playing in the garden.

The Charlwood Arms is a charming traditional pub with cozy wood burner fires, rustic old beams, and delicious food. Their menu ranges from mouthwatering hot roast beef sandwiches with a side salad and chips to hearty steak and ale pies with chips and vegetables, as well as a variety of appetizers, main courses, and desserts. I cannot recommend them highly enough. View menu

I recently dined at this restaurant with my family, which includes a vegan and someone with gluten intolerance. We had no issues with getting our dietary needs met. The food was delicious with generous portions. The homemade chips and gluten-free batter were particularly noteworthy. The staff was friendly, and we would definitely come back again after this positive experience.

The food, customer service and ambiance are excellent; a very nice outdoor seating area and large indoor dining area split into discreet areas to keep the quant dining experience. Don 't be confused by the outdoor appearance and drive past this is truly a Tardis building bigger on the inside with a large extension. The menu caters for a quick taisty sandwich with fries to an extensive 1 , 2 or 3 course meal. Can thoroughly recommend it.

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity.
