"Recently stayed at the Bat and Ball Inn for a family wedding. On the way home we decided that there were some pros and (a few) cons....PRO’s:*Free parking onsite.*Good, quiet location with good travel links.*Had enough rooms to accommodate most of our family! *Staff seemed friendly enough. *Had fresh towels each day of our stay.CONS:*Definitely the cleanliness there were cobwebs everywhere, limescale on taps and shower head etc. I looked under the bed and saw LOTS of dust.*Overall finish is poor the decor is drab and dated, we only had one working lamp (the other one the bulb was missing), very limited channels on tv and the clock wasn’t working. Claims to have free WiFi but unable to access network despite multiple attempts. All this ‘little stuff’ could be easily sorted and would have increased the comfort in our stay.*Breakfast was nice and seemed good quality. However, you don’t seem to get any ‘choice’ on breakfasts options (at least we weren’t told any) you either have a breakfast or you didn’t. No extras offered such as toast (you get 1 x slice pp with breakfast).Overall, the location worked well for us and we were pleased to be staying in the same place as the rest of our family. However, don’t really feel it’s worth the money and most likely won’t be back until improvements are made."

Food and service were both amazing. A really relaxed atmosphere in a gorgeous country pub. Would definitely return.

The new chef is superb and the food is really excellent! This is now our first choice for Sunday Lunch in the local area. The waiting staff are also great with kids.

Love the place. My favourite pub in Oxford. Lovely, interesting food. Best chunky chips and absolutely amazing soups with crusty bread. Try! Nice place and atmosphere.

I called the establishment to ask for the name of the owner and three times the lady hung up. When I did manage to speak to her she was very unpleasant . Is it too much to ask people to be polite

We enjoyed or beef Sunday lunch with a good choice of vegetables. The vegetation option was not as well received slightly dry and lacking in flavour. Sticky toffee pudding quite expensive at £6 a portion. Good choice of beers and cider.

We went for a meal, which was really good. Decent portions all very well done and heading to gastropub in quality. From the menu its hard to guess how well done the food was. Everything is right, small menu, very fresh, made to order and very well balanced dishes. Not silly money either. I just wish it was closer than 10 miles from me!

We regularly have our granddaughter to stay but she lives in London and we're near Worcester. We are therefore keen to find somewhere for her hand over. Having tried many places, we were impressed with the Bat Ball. We had a lovely Sunday lunch and felt comfortable and well looked after. The roast beef roast chicken went down a treat being presented interestingly with lots of vegetables nicely presented. That said, I would prefer the tops to be cut off the carrots parsnips so as to avoid having savoury grit in my mouth. That is the only negative. It's not cheap, but the quality of the food is worth the price. The service was good as was the wines we tried by the glass. Theis pub is a little...

Clean linens, clean towels, clean loo, so we got the basics. Otherwise, most surfaces in the room had a thick coating of dust, bathroom could have been cleaner too. Bed was very comfortable and we slept well. Breakfast was disappointing I added “vegetarian” to the special request on the booking, but was told there were no veggie sausages, also no hash browns/similar, no brown sauce, no choice offered of white or brown toast. I went for the scrambled eggs but these arrived not cooked through. Unfortunately no one asked how our breakfast was or how our stay was when we checked out. We paid £90 for a TINY double we’ve stayed in much bigger and nicer places in the region for similar money.Tip if...

Arrived on Saturday to check in, bar lady was pleasant but when asked about the room a lady sat doing book work I assume landlady) just said its 'fine ' which I thought was odd and not selling the place very well? The room in fact was quite good and clean, a few small wear and tear elements but nothing to worry about. We went out for the day then returned back to the pub for drinks before turning in for the night. Note we arrived back into the pub at 9.45 to order some drinks to be told by the lad behind the bar to say he had called lad orders but did very begrudgingly to serve my husband and friend a drink. He did say it 's what they do in the country? We actually live in the country but fa...

"We usually love coming to Cafe Rouge in Henley, always a treat for us and we are always looking forward to it. However the most recent visit was awful and it’s been going downhill over our last coupes of visits. We booked a table for my father in laws birthday. Upon being seated, we were informed that 3 of the main course dishes were unavailable.. pretty much half of the ‘mains’ options. We don’t come to Cafe Rouge for Burgers or salad! We opted for 3 portions of Mussels as had them here before and they’re very good! Mother in law just had pate as there was nothing else she wanted. These were possibly the worst mussels we’ve ever had. You could tell they weren’t fresh (cooked from frozen for sure) and there was barely any sauce in the pot! Usually they are flavourful and abundant in sauce! No check back was performed by the manager on duty..it was a quiet Monday so wasn’t exactly run off his feet. So we couldn’t alert him. Even upon clearing we weren’t ask how our meal was! Just asked if we had finished. We decided to mention they were awful to which the manager told us he would inform the kitchen. When he came back to finish clearing, my partner asked if they were frozen or fresh mussels, to which the manager replied yes, they are frozen. Wasn’t expecting that but you could totally tell! They tasted like cardboard! We had a coffee and a pudding and to be fair to the manager he didn’t charge us for one portion of mussels and the coffees we ordered. The Bill was certainly not worth what we had. Didn’t leave a tip, which we never normally do, but the service was non existent. Manager was more interested in what was on his phone. Won’t be rushing back"
