"what a fabulous pub! an amazing selection of first-class ales but above all several fabulous apple wines and wine of great quality. the renter and the dame they feel so welcome and the staff are pointed young, enthusiastic, friendly, attentive and very competent. You never have to wait to be served, they are ready almost before they are. the natives are pleasantly too proud of their favorite irrigation hole. eating is also to be noticed. it is worth visiting and even a way around when they travel through the opposite. I would like to go every day of the week if I could."

I had a disappointing experience at the pub. The woman working there was not welcoming and was quite rude.

Lovely country boozer. Great beer garden overlooking fields towards Rock Village and children friendly. Only had drinks and there was plenty to pick.

Great village pub, well run and managed with a good choice of real ales and nice cider. Fantastic refurbished outdoor area. 100% recommended for a meal or a quick pint

Loved this old pub, frontage was having a bit of a refurbishment. Nice selection of ales were on. I chose to have the Otter Bright. Which I enjoyed. Staff were friendly. Will definitely pop in again when in the area.

"I went here last weekend for lunch with my other half. I walked there from my house which is about 3 miles in a straight line. She drove, which allowed me to have a lager. The pub had only opened that day after the government lockdown and there were tables outside under marquees and benches available for others. We had one of the former because it started to drizzle after we arrived. The staff were friendly enough and came over to take our order. However, the food was not as I had hoped. I opted for a baguette. My wife ordered fish and chips. When the food arrived, there was little if anything on my plate except for the baguette itself. A small bit of salad with a tinge of dressing, no fries or anything. This cost me nearly £7. The Fish and Chips was clearly not something you would see from your average fish and chip shop which suggested it was something microwaved from frozen. There were quite a few chips on the plate but again little else. This cost nearly £12. When we added the lager and her Diet Coke, the bill came to £25.If they really want to keep customers they need to do better than this. For those interested in making comparisons, they should read my recent post about the Star in at Ashton Under Hill. The food there was plentiful and we had to wrap up half our food and take it home. This in comparison, was like chalk and cheese. Please think a little better about your menu otherwise customers may not return. It's a pity really as this place sits right by the river and the surroundings are really beautiful."

"that was a good pub restaurant before. there seems to be a bad retention and a high turnover of employees who think about management. the steak I ordered was chewing and full gristle. I said the waitress politely that she would get the manager/Koch/Barman out of the kitchen. gary, the above mentioned helicopter of all trades, seems to do the work of all, instead of managing that he has not arrived. a few minutes later the waitress asked if we would like more drinks. I explained that I wanted to solve the problem first with my meal and she went back to the kitchen. finally gary arrived and in a very condesctive way explained that rib auge steak has some fat in it. I am aware of the sibling that gives taste, but not gristle and steak as hard as it is like chewing leather. in no phase I offered a replacement or another option, but after a waiting period of minutes since my complaining and the sight of cold gristle before me I was no longer hungry anyway. gary's attitude was risible. he has no customer service skills and did not make any excuse or offer of any kind to put it right. he simply produced a bill for the whole meal (minus the steak), which was wrong anyway, as there was an additional glass wee on it. he changed this with a pencil entry and stood above the table while we paid. we took family members to this pub and its attitude, lack of civil society and general ignorance made this a very unpleasant experience. we will never visit the dog again, a once excellent pub restaurant ruined by its bad administration and high turnover of unfortunate and overworked employees."
