"Myself , my wife , my brother and sister in law visited the bennetts end inn on 24th of May 2023 for a evening meal , my brother had the chicken and leak pie with mash and veg , my wife had chicken and chips in a basket both meals were good except the chicken and leak pie was too small for the price . The portion of chicken and leak pie was smaller than a vanilla slice , not value for money . Myself and sister in law had the burger and chips , tasted fine , but sister in law was sick during the night and myself had diarrhoea all day Thursday 25th May , the only meals we had different from my brother and wife made us ill . will not eat there again until chef replaced and food quality improves . Good food and beer, good service all at a reasonable price. The menu might benefit from being expanded a bit, but that's really nit picking ! View menu

Under new management and newly refurbished to a high standard. The evening we came was suffering filthy weather and the roaring fires told us we were in for a treat. James and his team were very welcoming and we soon had drinks by the fire.... View menu

We came here for Sunday dinner for my mums birthday, the potion sizes are another level. You defiantly won’t leave feeling hungry. The food was cooked perfectly, you can tell it’s all home made, the service was all you could ask for. Will defiantly be coming back! I also loved that they did carrot and swede mash as that’s a staple at home and not many places do that!

During our recent travels in the UK, we unexpectedly discovered this hidden gem of a restaurant. The ambiance was wonderful and the staff were very friendly. When the food arrived, it exceeded our expectations and left us eager to return. The cuisine was outstanding, especially the fish and chips which I highly recommend. The batter was perfectly light and crispy, and the dish was cooked to perfection. Overall, it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience under the new management.

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."
