"Just one quick question before I start my review: is it a Toasty or a Toastie or conversely, should I just get a life and stop writing these reviews and worrying about life's semantics? I dropped into the Boathouse after completing my days work early...for a late lunch and as it was somewhere between dinner and tea, decided to go light for once. The Cheese and Onion Toasty was thick as a door wedge and jam packed with the finest Cheddar and crispy onions. They serve a great range of locally brewed beers and I washed the toastie down with a pint of Hadrian Border brewery's Secret Kingdom which proved to be a synthesis of Dairy, Malty Goodness. Next time I'll try one of their numerous Thai offerings."

a village pub, known for the selection of real ales, but offers a selection of Thai food, well prepared, with friendly service.

Beautiful interior, outside seating, friendly staff, nice selection of beer and a great steak pie with a generous portion of mushy peas and gravy... You have to pop in if you are around!

before covid 19 four of us visited the pub to lunch. we were several times on the river to foot from newburn to wylem, so its comfortable, but it served large beer, and a pee and inherited lunch. we love the place, but are not since the coin 19 there is a great selection of real ales that are all served as clear and tasty pints.

A quick visit in late afternoon we loved this pub. Barlady was very patient and helpful let us taste 3 beers before we settled on what to order. The Boadecia IPA was outstandingly good. A friendly dog greets everyone then lies down in...his corner. This pub has won numerous awards and recently was rated one of the best pubs in England by a prestigious real ale society. View menu

Was staying at Close House and prior to check in we wanted some food and drinks. A little Scan on trip advisor found me this place. Read the reviews and decided that out of the 3 or 4 pubs in wylam his is where we...would try and wow it did not disappoint. Proper pub decor, cracking Thai menu for the food and lots of real ale to choose from! Had a great time on the pool table with the boy and the rugby was one on which was great. Next time I am in the area we will be back. Food was incredible!

We wandered here for a pint as we had heard good things. We were planning on having a token Sunday roast and found this place did a Thai menu... It isn’t usually something we would consider on a Sunday afternoon but as we are massive...Asian food fans thought what the hell! It was brilliant! I had a massaman curry with chicken whilst my partner had a chilli, basil dish. Both were very, very good and the portions were great. The staff here are lovely, the beers were in fact brilliant and the pub is traditional and awesome. I will definitely be back!!! Also, very reasonable!!!!
