"we came out for a walk from brighton, arrived for an unplanned lunch. this building is amazing seeing full account on wikipedia, dates back to the 14th century, very cozy, real fires go. many nooks and bang to explore and find a private table. no music that suits it. really friendly staff goes away to help. really disappointed with the food I fear. overcooked chips that I suspect fried in old oil, chopped salat?! and a lower quality thickburger that was overcooked and too dry. what tasted like galvanized heaps with the sampi and chips. burger and chips were £12. They offer a children's menu but eat the same bad quality. a nice place for a drink, but better place to eat here."

A great friendly pub. My Local. great food, music, friendly staff. I recommend breakfast. A much better pub than the White Horse and much cheaper.

We popped in on the off chance they had a table and were so glad we did. Nice burgers and lamb pie, decent portion sizes, friendly waitress and we didn't have a long wait for food. All in all a really good experience and I'll go back if I'm in the area again.

I and my husband ordered dinner last night. I had the homemade quiche salat and chips and my man had the cheeseburger. both meals are really good. very tasty and very well presented. eating is always very good, really good value for money. The... stuff is always very friendly.

My father, brother and myself stayed for a few nights for a family funeral. We had Sunday dinner on arrival and cooked breakfast every morning. The pub was very clean and well kept. The bedrooms were spacious and clean. We were also very taken by...the friendly staff and boxer dog Connor.

with a group of friends to Wednesday lunch. only 1 beautiful person who serves the bar. each meal came one after another, I don't think a regular cook on this day. they also had new orders from the puddings since the weekend. not arrived. we should have said it. it looks like the place is fighting and trying to do it. eating varies, all friends and not healthy.

Service wasn't great we waited over half an hour for our dinner. I ordered drinks at the bar but wasn't told then that I had to order food at the bar, the waiter I asked didn't know. I had the small roast beef dinner adequate for me and my guest had the roast ham followed by two Chequers Mess. Unfortunately the table next to us had a backpacking couple who proceeded to sort her feet out with the help of a safety pin and lots of plasters, not nice!

in this beautiful village stopped and found this beautiful urige pub for our lunch, on Sunday we had a fry, and it was very nice too! the lady serving was very helpful and we enjoyed a laugh with the natives, like my wife and I. are of norfolk they found them funny as they were certain words phased. road comes in the senses! but a beautiful place to lunch. the village is best seen through a walk through the church road. it is back in time and the buildings are charming. they come to the church at the end of this road. beautiful day spent here! many thanks to all we talked to!

"So, the first problem was the booking (and the exact same thing had happened the previous time we arrived at this restaurant with an Open Table booking). I had made the booking online and received confirmation both via email and in the OT app, which I could show at the restaurant. When I made the booking very limited times were available: nothing between 11.45am and 2pm, so we assumed the restaurant would be crowded. When we arrived a little before our 2pm booking, it was three-quarters empty and they had no record of my booking. Since the place was largely empty this didn't matter, but on another occasion it might have done. And maybe one reason the place was so empty was that other potential customers had also seen no availability between 11.45am and 2pm, so Cote had no online bookings. Either Open Table or Cote need to sort out what is wrong with their booking systems as it seems that in Horsham at least the systems do not talk to each other. The food was fine, typical Cote just as you would expect, but the service was disappointing. In a largely empty restaurant one might expect efficient and attentive service but we got nothing of the sort. It was hard to get attention from any server and we had to request some items several times. Someone who from her dress was probably the duty manager, spent most of her time lounging or chatting with other staff members rather than making sure customers got good service."
