"The atmosphere at this restaurant is lovely and the service is very friendly. The food was good and almost made this a four-star review, however, there were no vegetarian or vegan options on the main or kids menu. There was a vegetarian option on the lunch baguette menu and the kitchen did offer a vegan burger or nut roast, but it is recommended to call ahead if you have vegetarians or vegans in your group, especially children as the kids menu only had burger nuggets and chips with no pasta option. Unfortunately, this lack of vegetarian and vegan options may prevent us from returning, but if that does not bother you, the Chequers is definitely worth a visit."

This pub is amazing and me and my family love it. The owners ,waiters and waitresses treat us like family. The food is always high standard and generous portions. We are definitely coming again.

This is a lovely old pub and the service was fine but the food was not so good . I had the chicken and mushroom pie which was a bit dry and my wife had the lentil shepherds pie which was completely tasteless .

I enjoyed two delicious burgers and received excellent service from our waiter, Sam! He was attentive, friendly, and welcoming. Sam even provided us with helpful traffic advice. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!

So myself and my partner just wanted a couple of beers on a Sunday lunchtime. There was physically nowhere to sit purely to have a drink. Every seat was taken up by people eating. What’s happening to our pubs? The only available seating was in the garden too cold.

This pub is delightful with nice decor and friendly staff. The food was delicious and I appreciated the little extras like the jug of curry sauce with fish and chips, and gravy with the sausage sandwich. It has been a while since my last visit, but I will definitely be returning soon.

Looking for somewhere to stop for lunch on a Saturday travelling from the south coast. Super convenient stop 100m from the a34. Lovely thatched pub, good welcome, beer is Fullers, great. Had looked at the menu online and was happy with it, but found a fabulous specials board in the bar with even better choices. Fully recommend.

Stopped here for lunch halfway between Bath and Bedford on an October Friday. Excellent autumn vegetable soup, thick, really tasty, hot and nicely garnished. Too filling to follow with a main course but did manage a generous apricot crumble with lashings of hot custard. Very friendly staff, easy to find and plenty of parking. We will return!!

Friendly and quick service. We skipped the starter, and went straight into mains which were excellent. My other half had the mixed grill, and I had the chicken schnitzel. Both were excellent. Cooked well, presented nicely, and most importantly, tasted great : The only downside (for me was that the fried egg served with the schnitzels was sprinkled with black pepper I hate black pepper, however, I am being super picky as the rest of the meal was really delicious. I really wanted a dessert, as they were so appealing, but unfortunately, just didn't have room : D We will be returning, as I have to have one of those desserts!!

"I’m frustrated and annoyed with booking a romantic meal for our year wedding anniversary, with the current pandemic and work commitments it made a change to make an effort and be excited to visit the boxing hare as the reviews had been excellent. We...were seated in the garden room, next to a family who were on first name terms with the waiting staff and who were so loud I thought I was at a Chelsea match! We received complimentary glasses of champagne and we placed our order for starters and main which were excellent however I felt rushed with the service, as much as I tried to have a conversation all I could hear was this family at decibels to which enough was enough usually I would say something, however rather than ruin there evening I asked for us to be reseated to which the waiting staff were in agreement that they were loud! So why place us next to them? We were given a table in a different part of the pub still busy with other diners giving respect to one another. The table given I was advised I had as it was reserved? I placed dessert order and two lattes with baileys followed by the bill! The bill was a tad on the steep side for a gastro pub perhaps the prices are based on the price of fuel to fill the owners Bentley Overall felt it was a rushed evening disappointed with the seating arrangements,I won’t be returning as I felt what was important to us wasn’t important to the Boxing Hare I’ve had better evenings at The Falkland Arms Great Tew, The Great Western Aynho"
