"We'd booked the Copper Beech as part of a big family birthday weekend. As a big party (34), we'd checked ahead they could accommodate this and were told it would be fine as long as meals were pre-ordered. We sent through our orders over a...week before our visit and had been in touch. 15 of us had ordered Sunday dinners upon arrival, we were asked what meat we wanted. The only other changes were we needed to add one more Sunday dinner (which we did the day before), add a couple if achos sharer starters change one meal from a salad to a lasagne. As not everyone had wanted starters, the staff asked whether we wanted them serving first or alongside the mains. We asked if they could bring out the starters first then start bringing out the mains straight after. We were assured this was OK. It took 45 minutes for the starters to come out. We had a shared nachos starter which I have to say were very nice. It took nearly 2 hours for the first mains to arrive. We queried why this was and were told by one of the 3 servers that it was our fault as we'd changed so many orders...utter claptrap. We were also told we'd not told them the meat choices in our pre-order for the Sunday dinners. Their website simply says a selection of roasts (doesn't specify which will be available on a given day) and bearing in mind we'd submitted our choices a week before our visit, I'd have expected a query if this was an issue. The next excuse was we had said to wait until the starters had been finished before bringing out the mains. Again, untrue. Next up was that everything is cooked fresh. Unless Aunt Bessie works there, I seriously doubt this. The yorkies were clearly bought, the mash was suspiciously smash like in consistency and taste. I couldnt comment in the roast potatoes, at 2 tiny specimens, the sample size was too small to tell. Veg wise, a couple of carrot batons, parsnips and peas. Not entirely convinced any of these were freshly made though getting some, I did better than some of the other diners in our party. It also looks like I was lucky with my choice of meat with the beef. While not particularly great, at least I didn't go for the pork which for at least 2 of us still had the string around it and for others was really fatty. I have to say on the plus side, the gravy was really nice. I think the thing that really ruined the experience was the attitude of the staff. To be blamed for the delays beggars belief. One of our party was ready to leave at the 2 and a half hour mark without a main, he was then told his caesar salad was about to come out. The server said she was surprised he'd expected his meal sooner given the size of the party. When he asked if she'd have found this acceptable, she said yes and laughed. He blew up at that point and walked out. He later came back in and apologised to the staff member. The manager when replying to our concerns fixated on this incident and said no apology had been made (again not true as it was witnessed by a number of us)."

We went for a meal for my mums birthday, there was 15 of us and although there was a bit of a wait it was well worth it, all the food was really hot and all made fresh. The service was amazing and they couldn’t do enough for us, we will definitely be Viking again.

We travelled 20 miles to meet up with our family. The Copper Beech is a really nice friendly restaurant. We all had Sunday lunch with dessert which was delicious. It is worth travelling a little further from home for a nice meal. The staff are...friendly and attentive. We will be back soon.

Large group of 35 so pre-ordered. The first 3 of our party received their meal after 1 hour 45 minutes wait, the last after 2 hours 40 (this included a salad). Unacceptable. Despite complaining, nothing seemed to hurry these people, they came up with numerous...excuses but no apologies. Food wise, it was sub standard string with the joint of pork, undercooked onion rings, some meals came without vegetables or just a handful of chips or just 2 roast potatoes. Avoid this place

Booked weeks beforehand as a group of 34 and pre-ordered all food. Yet we waited over 2 hours for our meal and were made to feel unreasonable for complaining about the wait as apparently we should expect to wait that long for food that is...freshly prepared. Others in our party had their meal served to them over 30 minutes before us. Why hadn't staff prepared prior to us arriving? They knew what we were all having! When it finally arrived it was overcooked and dry as you can see in the photos. Would never return or recommend to anyone! This was booked for a special occasion and it was really disappointing. Booked a table for 3 people for 12.00 for today’s Sunday lunch, we entered the pub and had to find someone round the other side who told us to just sit anywhere. We sat at table 12 which was very sticky? No one came over...to take our order or bring a menu so I approached the bar to help myself to a menu as the 3 girls seemed oblivious that we were there and proceeded to serve the people that came in after we arrived! I managed to talk the guy that was serving and asked if he could take our order, he came over straight away as I said it felt like we had been overlooked even though we had booked and been told to find a table.
