"Lovely looking pub and decor suggests it would serve decent food-very wrong. When we went to order the first thing they said was a list of pub foods they didn’t have from the very short menu. The menu was very old fashioned and ‘normal’, the food served was even less impressive. They charge the prices for food that an up market pub would but quality of a school canteen. The meat portions were large but under-cooked, despite us asking for ‘well done’. A gammon steak came with a mountain of cheap, dried up peas and chips, no garnish or presentation. The burgers had no garnish, as the photos on here show and certainly did not look like their advertisement. Their excuse was “we are in transition from 1 menu tip another, so running stocks down”. They had no eggs, chilli and various other staples you may expect. Why would you “run down” stocks just because of a menu change? I have never encountered this before. Such a shame. The pub/restaurant itself could be thriving, despite being in a village,if the owners wanted it to succeed. Good quality at reasonable prices attracts custom. Most definitely will not return."

Lovely, family-run pub with a superb beer garden, perfect for the sunny evenings to come. The pub has been recently refurbished and looks fantastic, unlike some that have a refurbishment and change to pretentious food and prices the new menu is great honest pub food and huge amounts of it! Everyone is always made to feel so welcome and Demi, Tom, their family and team have turned round a pub that changed hands so often previously to a great place to eat and drink in the last few years despite setbacks like floods that would have seen most others give up and they deserve all our support. Must get along for their bike night one evening also!

"I’ve just realised I’ve been visiting The Beck for over 20 years now for both drinks and meals with friends and family and I’ve never written a review! The Beck for me is home from home and I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve visited. They say a business is only as good as it’s staff, and maybe this is why The Beck has lasted so long with a reputation for a relaxed atmosphere good food and good service. The staff here are friendly, caring and professional, I’ve never been anywhere where I felt so at home as The Beck. Edward, Julie, Theresa, Kieran and not forgetting Trish in the kitchen make the place what it is! In 20 years I’ve never had a bad meal here, the food is excellent, and today did not disappoint. I was treating my parents and wife to a belated Mother’s Day and Dad’s birthday meal out, I had the lamb roast which was sublime and my dad had the blade of beef which in his words was “melt in your mouth” good! My Wife had a chilli and my Mum had the flat bread, which were also very nice and portions are plentiful. My daughter has Dairy and Soya allergies and wanted sausages and mash however the mash had butter in it so they made it with chips instead, she also cleared her plate! If you want to go somewhere with a nice warm friendly atmosphere and excellent food at very reasonable prices then The Beck is definitely worth a visit."
