"When we arrived, the restaurant was very busy. We had made a reservation and were promptly shown to our table. The staff was handling the crowd well and seemed well-organized. The other customers appeared to be happy and satisfied. However, a rude and immature woman walked in and demanded a table, even though it was clearly not possible at that time. She was aggressive towards the manager, who tried to explain the situation politely but was not allowed to speak by the woman. The situation escalated as the woman continued to be aggressive towards the manager. It is always best to book in advance when going to a restaurant to avoid disappointment. The woman was clearly upset, but it was not fair for her to behave like a spoiled child. I'm sure the manager would have been accommodating if the woman had not been so rude and interrupting other customers. It's a shame that some people act in this way. Despite the incident, we had a lovely meal and the milkshakes were amazing."

Nicest place we’ve visited in a while, very welcoming from new owners Jenny Vince with their daughters making the most delicious coffees and the carrot cake was that good we had another one to share! 2 for £14.00 on meals is great value for money and very tasty and taste fresh. Thank you for making our first day out since lockdown so lovely View menu

I visited the restaurant today after a long time since my last disappointing visit. I walked in with hope, but found it empty. I was seated and served quickly. The cakes were overpriced and the lemon drizzle cake lacked flavor. The coffee was good. The atmosphere was not very welcoming. There was a lingering smell of fried food in the air and on clothes. It's a shame because it used to be a lively place to hang out and socialize.

The afternoon tea at this restaurant was outstanding. The Victoria sponge cake was one of the best I've had, and the cheese sandwich scones were delicious. The staff were amazing, friendly, and helpful. I had a great conversation with one of them, who I think may have been the owner, as I bought a tin of Robin biscuits from them for a Christmas present for my grandmother. I noticed they were also selling bracelets on the side, and when my friend explained that I was collecting raffle prizes to raise money for the Great Ormond Street Hospital, the lady donated two bracelets. I offered to pay for them, but she refused to take the money. In the end, we raised £160 for the raffle, thanks in part...

"Having been to the Phoenix several times and I believe, this to be my second average review of the food and service, you 'd think they would have taken heed, but clearly not. Firstly, like most top end restaurants in London, they are reserving the right to charge for no shows £20 per head). But, what they are also doing, which is very unfair, is charging you for cancellations within 24 hours of the booking at £10 per head. If one or more of our friends had fallen ill over night it 's the flu season at the moment), they would have been were forced to go for an expensive average Sunday lunch, whilst spreading their germs to the other diners. It also poses the question, what would some do if you book a table less than 24 hours like we did) and then decide to cancel? The excuse that orders for food have already been placed doesn 't really hold water. The Sunday menu forces you to order a minimum of 2 courses at £34 per head. Some of the top London restaurants are charging less for far more opulent Sunday roasts e.g. the Jugged Hare at the Barbican). The Sunday lunch served was simply very average and not value for money. Finally, why are the desserts here, always consistently so bad? I ordered a baked cheesecake and got cream squirted on a piece of cake. When I asked what I had been served, I was told it was chef 's interpretation of a cheesecake. The menu clearly stated baked cheesecake. Not even in my wildest dreams can you interpret a baked cheesecake as a piece of cake with creamed squirted on it! This was promptly returned and replaced with a vile chocolate tart, with pastry so hard I couldn 't cut into it without the fear of smashing the plate it was served on. The chocolate was over salted and the chantilly cream served with it unsweetened. Save your money, go elsewhere."
