"We had been here before and had a delicious Sunday lunch, it was only marred by the attitude of the server. As they advertised on their online menu of Roast Lamb, we arranged a second visit. Alas the lamb was no longer on the menu, so we changed for alternatives. The food was not as good as last time, turkey dry, cod in batter a little greasy, and the beef quite grisly. Two in our party decided on dessert, and as the four selections on offer were heavily unsuitable for one in the group, he asked for ice cream and berries. Upon delivery of said pudding, it was a sparrow portion of berries. I guess the piste de resistance came when the bill was presented, and almost immediately the landlady pounced. We asked for a few minutes as we wanted to split the bill. However, when the sums did not add up, she said in a loud voice, so everyone could hear, she had been short-changed by £1.00. From there on, she could not wait for us to drink up by clearing the mats before us. We will not be returning."

I had a fantastic Sunday lunch at this restaurant. The beer was great, the service was very friendly, and the prices were reasonable. The roast lamb was the best I've had in a long time. I will definitely be returning.

Well worth coming for Sunday lunch. We both had beef, it’s was such a lovely meal. Attention to detail. The lady who served us was excellent. Good beer, good wine, good food, great service and a nice atmosphere. Will be back!

A large spacious pub with welcoming staff hosting a good selection of real ales. The ESB and the dark mild were excellent. A varied menu with main meals and snacks are on offer, all five of our party chose differently and all were happy with their choice. View menu

Last night, we had a wonderful meal at this restaurant. All four of us loved the food, it was so delicious and there were plenty of great options to choose from. The service for both drinks and food was excellent, and the atmosphere was friendly. I highly recommend paying a visit to this spot, it's definitely worth it.

Visited for Mothering Sunday. Had starter, main and pudding. Service was friendly and attentive. Everything came out according to the pre order we had our through. Food was excellent with superb produce and great portions. And value for money also fantastic. To top it all off mum received flowers when the bill game. What a thoughtful touch!

We visited this charming small pub after hearing great reviews and we were not disappointed. My boyfriend and I both ordered the roast pork and it was absolutely delicious! It came with a generous portion of cauliflower cheese, extra vegetables, and plenty of gravy. Everything we had was impressive. The server was excellent and despite it being a Sunday, the service was fairly quick. Overall, we were very satisfied with our experience. View menu

Been a few times over the years since 2020, same old moans from the Landlords wife? who hovers around just waiting to snatch that empty glass, or curtly remind diners not to dwell without ordering something further once the meal was eaten! The plates of which carried our food were too hot to touch, which saw my wife burn her wrist. That was met with a surly comment of people complain if the plate 's cold. Mediocre roast spuds in a thin gravy, though nice cuts of meat. Unfortunately due to the bad atmosphere we 'll never be returning, little wonder Indeed are advertising for a new Chef.

We called in when passing as a party of 6 celebrating an 80th birthday and could not have been made more welcome by the landlord. We also had a little dog who was made welcome. The range of beers were superb and we were handed the brand new summer menu and the daily specials board. Between the 6 of us, 4 had the fish and chips which were superb, I had the steak and ale pie which I can only describe as full of meat!! And my wife had salmon which was equally superb. We had a surprise cake for our birthday girl and the landlord kindly kept it cool and when the time was right brought it out with all the candles lit, and with plates and forks!! Absolutely brilliant. All our party will be returnin...

"My previous experience dining at Tana Thai was nothing short of faultless and second to none in both service and the quality of authentic Thai food served. So I had high expectations for my second visit and was not left disappointed. We ordered the Thai experience for 2 for £27, which in my opinion was excellent value for money. The staff once again were welcoming and accomodating ensuring we had an enjoyable and pleasant dining experience. Tana Thai manages to deliver a varied menu with generous portion sizes. If your looking for authentic Thai flavours with subtle flavour combinations of hot, spicy, sweet, and sour then Thana Thai gets a A+ from me every time. We will definitely back in the future. My friend and I dined at Tana Thai for the first time tonight, we were not disappointed. We have dined at other Thai restaurants in Bedford and would certainly place Tana Thai along side the best of them for flavour and authenticity. The service from the staff was both friendly and prompt. The mixed starter for two was filling and tasty, with the Thai spring rolls certainly being the star of the show. We ordered beef in black bean sauce with egg fried rice and a mixed seafood pad thai. The beef was succulent and tender and the seafood was cooked perfectly with a mixture of crushed nuts on the side for texture. An excellent meal and excellent service, thank you."

"Reminiscing about the great time we had at this place last night! We spent the weekend in Bedford visiting relatives and decided to book this place, because we’re big pizza fiends and the reviews meant it made sense! Have not stopped thinking about the food all day! If you’re lucky enough to know what a proper Neapolitan pizza tastes like and have been chasing the dream of tasting it again… look no further! If you haven’t been to Naples before, then this place takes you there and back in one evening! This is hands down the best pizza outside of Naples! In fact I would go as far as to say that it could easily hold its own amongst the 100s of pizzerias in its birth City! The restaurant itself is casually quirky… named after the owner’s mother, with photos to couple that offer a little glimpse into the owners background with Italian memorabilia for days… including a real vesper hanging on a shelf from the ceiling, you’re hit with the scent of the wood fired oven as soon as you walk through the doors letting you know instantly that you’re in for a treat… the real deal! The relaxed, but upbeat vibe coupled with the warm and attentive welcome and service from the owner and the staff meant it was only fair to start with a round of Aperol Spritzes, which was followed by a number of bottles of delicious Primitivo throughout the meal that ultimately led to some singing and dancing at the end of our meal! We allowed the owner to recommend lots of things off the menu to share and boy did he not disappoint! Everything from pizzas, to pizza rolls to bruschetta meant that we were all able to try the classic Neapolitan pizza base with various different flavours! Highly recommend trying the Pizza Tartufo if you like truffle! I’m Italian and visit Naples most years and the pizza base is up there with the best I’ve tried! Hats off to the pizzaiolas as mastering this culinary delight is not easy! The pork meatballs in tomato sauce and oven roasted cracked pepper and salty ribs were delicious! But aside from the extremely high quality of the pizzas it was a bowl full of cheese and charcuterie that stole the show! Imagine a huge ball of creamy burrata that when cut open released loads of tiny balls of morzarella! It was truly next level! I have never seen or tasted anything quite like it! We finished with a round of espressos and some traditional Italian pastries, which were out of this world! We had such a lovely evening from the food to the wine, service to the vibe it really was exceptional! The only thing I wasn’t happy about was leaving, knowing that this restaurant isn’t on my doorstep! The only saving grace is the avoided damage it would do to my waistline if it was, as I would be here every weekend! Cannot wait to go back!"
