"Great atmosphere, very cosy and quiet which was great , very good service from the staff and the beer choice was very good . The menu was good , although still found it pretty expensive, one of the reasons I stopped coming which was a shame as I am local , a stones throw away . One of the reasons I came back was the discounted voucher I had from the app ......... enjoyed it very much ..... please do a few more chefs specials and certainly more discounted offers ... cheers...... and please make the portion size a bit bigger ..... I'm not a huge guy .... but I am pretty hungry...cheers"

Probably the best one of the day doing Cask Marque pubs in York. Gorgeous place and very high quality real ale. A but out of the way but we’ll worth the effort getting there. Top spot !! View menu

We live across the road from the pub. It would be great to have a nice “local” but, sadly, we don’t. This place is a triumph of mediocrity, the only exception being the staff, because they’re far below par it’s as if they are ushered in from the local asylum. Several of them don’t speak great English, despite it being their first language, and most of them smell like hospital food. Food: 3

Avoid. Several items were off the menu at 7pm , ridiculous. Waiter was interesting .Ordered a bottle of white wine. He dumped the ice bucket containing wine bottle and glasses on the table with a quick here 's your wine and walked off. Cutlery was dumped on the table in a similar way.My husband had gammon and eggs. Egg white was like plastic. Triple cooked chips ??? no, poor quality. Fish cakes were indifferent. Manager tried to excuse the service by saying the waiter was young. No just a bit of a neanderthal. Poor value
