"I visited this charming little restaurant last November on a Sunday evening. The food was delightful; I ordered the fish and chips while my friend had the fried dinner. We even managed to save room for dessert! I chose the ice cream brownie sundae, which was absolutely amazing. I don’t usually have a big sweet tooth, but I would definitely enjoy it again! The only downside was that the music was quite loud, and we were seated right under a speaker, making it hard to hear each other. However, the lovely waitress made our experience more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this place!"

Classic pub with friendly and fun staff. The quiz seemed like a laugh we had arrived too late, but still enjoyed the banter. The food was traditional pub tea, fresh and tasty. Sweet little hidden garden on top.

Went in for afternoon dinner,, really nice had the hunters chicken chips and peas. Nice food lovely clean place. Just we ended up moving out own plates as they were on the table for a good half hour, when we finished. It wasn't really busy either

I've visited the English lounge on a few occasions. It's a bit rowdy at times, especially when the footballs on. How ever, it's still a nice pub and their Sunday Roast was spot on. There is a upstairs smoking area, with a open topped roof. Also in a good location. I definitely recommend.

Not been in this pub for while but called in on Friday, It was good to see that Phil still works there, He made us both feel very welcome ,excellent bar service and the drinks were a good price .Even though we didn't eat there the food looked nice and we will probably try it the next time we call in

I had another wonderful experience at the English Lounge! I recently attended an 80th birthday party there, and everyone had a fantastic time. The staff were, as always, incredibly accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. A special shoutout to Michael, Kieron, and Dannie for their efforts in making our experience so memorable. Thank you!

Situated opposite the food court of the Arndale shopping centre. First visit in about 5 years. Can get very busy but fine on a Wednesday lunchtime. Had a choice of Landlord or Doom Bar; no choice really..excellent Landlord. A Moorhouses beer waiting to be ready to serve. Fairly standard food menu. £12.50 fish n chips, £12.49 pie n mash. Similar price for burgers. Well worth a visit. Two upstairs rooms and a small secret roof garden.

"Alborz is a wonderful hidden gem in Levenshulme that serves a variety of Persian and Middle-Eastern food, located on Stockport Rd you could be forgiven for thinking that Alborz is as unassuming as it's humble exterior suggests. However, what lies behind those modest doors is truly fantastic restaurant both in terms of food and service. The interior is understated and tasteful, furnished with Persian vases and ornate tea sets, the tables are close together to make the most of the limited space available but this lends a refreshing communal atmosphere to your meal. The staff were friendly and attentive and more than happy to talk you through the menu and explain the various dishes. We ordered the Mezze Platter to start, this consists of four different starters, and is ideal if you're not overly familiar with Persian cuisine, the homemade hummus was a particular highlight being both fresh and tasty. We then ordered the Alborz special grill for two, which looks as wonderful as it tastes, succulent skewers of koobideh and chicken accompanied by grilled vegetables, saffron rice and a freshly baked taltoon bread which was frankly quite ridiculous in its magnificence and is so large it came supplied with its own stand. This was a true delight to eat and I can highly recommend it. After all of that, we were overloaded with food and couldn't possibly consider having dessert and so, asked for the bill, which led to true surprise of the evening, all of this wonderfully authentic and fresh food came to a grand total of £42. This reflects tremendous value in a time where a meal for two can often prove quite expensive. Overall I would say that Alborz is definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and if you're not well then it's worth making the trip for. If you're a fan of Persian food or perhaps want to try something new then you would genuinely struggle to find such a quality dining experience at this price point."

"I've been to a couple of different Dishoom branches a few times and have never been disappointed by the breakfast options. The sausage naan roll is excellent. A couple of really tasty vegan sausages with some melted vegan cheese all wrapped up in a lovely soft naan and served with some sort of sweet chilli dipping sauce. My go to now is usually the vegan Bombay. It's a good hearty breakfast plate with... a couple of the same well seasoned vegan sausages. Some vegan tofu akuri a nicely spiced tofu scramble. Some very well cooked mushroom slices (that are maybe a wee bit under seasoned). The baked beans are really nicely spiced, elevating them far beyond the standard sweet sauce fare that's the usual. A few slices of well flavoured black pudding (that could be fried to being a bit crispier). A cooked tomato which is a bit dull, I've never been keen on tomatoes on my breakfast plate and this once has not changed my mind. It could do with some more charring and maybe some spicing. To help you mop everything up, the whole thing is served with a couple of soft bread buns that have been nicely toasted. I usually top the whole thing off with some chocolate chai with oat milk you get free refills for your chai. Unfortunately, it isn't wheelchair accessible. There are stairs up into the restaurant and various small flights of stairs to get to different parts of the restaurant. Updated from previous review on 2024 03 25"
