"A nice place for a pint of Innis Gunn which was cold and hit the spot. Service from the staff was good, especially the young man who gave in depth knowledge on the drinks available and the local area. I chose to have burger and chips on this visit and although the burger itself was very nice i thought that better baps which did not fall apart would have sealed the experience. The pub has a nice atmosphere and is quite cooling even with sunshine present (a plus). Worth a visit."

Unfriendly rude ****. Large group of 8 got separated in two small groups of 4 since the tables were too small. We were flabbergasted.

The food was decent, but the service was lacking and there was a negative atmosphere with tourists. I would not recommend this restaurant. View menu

I had the haggis and it was NOT what I was expecting. It was rich, meaty and delicious. The presentation was more fine dining than pub grub. Impressive!

It is a reasonable stop after the Castle. Classical food, friendly staff, we had a lunch for a group of 7 adults and 1 kid, the food was better than we could expect , actually tasty.

This fantastic, peaceful pub offers outstanding food. The locally sourced haggis and sausage of the day were delightful. The staff were welcoming and accommodating, and the food was reasonably priced. Definitely recommend stopping here for dinner. View menu

We stopped by this restaurant for a few drinks and found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. Although we didn't have a meal here, the menu looked enticing and the dishes being served to other tables appeared to be delicious. We enjoyed sitting outside with a wonderful view of the Grassmarket and Edinburgh Castle.

Mid-week lunch. Vibrant and friendly atmosphere, with good natural lighting. EXCELLENT SERVICE. Wonderful main course of haggis-stuffed chicken-breast. Well cooked presented and a good sized portion. Washed down with a pint of locally brewed real ale. Refreshing and hoppy (in a GOOD way) taste. And all at a sensible price. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
