"I have given this establishment a 1* review purely because 0* isn’t an option. Anyone considering booking, please read ahead so you aren’t left without a room for the night like we were. How they have managed to achieve 4* reviews so far if this is the way they treat paying guests is absolutely beyond me. After an easy booking process, communication about our stay and arrangements was great. We knew ahead of time how to check in and where to collect our keys once we arrived (we were arriving late at night and no reception would be available . Upon arriving, the keys for our rooms weren’t there, yet two other keys for single rooms were. Given 4 adults were staying and we’d booked executive rooms, this clearly wasn’t appropriate. We contacted the emergency number provided and finally got through on the 5th attempt to a woman (the owner? who said she would send her son. He arrived 20 minutes later, stormed past us without saying a word, and proceeded to bang on the doors of the rooms wee were supposed to be in to try and wake the people who had taken ours! When he couldn’t wake them, he came back to reception, didn’t introduce himself, made no attempt to apologise, and worse still, didn’t make any further attempts to resolve the situation. He told us he couldn’t wake the guests in the rooms we should have had (it was 1.15am at this point!! and that there were no other rooms available. End of story, not even any attempt to try and help us. We were then left to drive the 90 minute journey back home after a long day at a wedding, finally arriving home at 3am. We were promised a phone call from the same man (presumed to be the owners son the following day. 5 days later, and after I’d had to call to chase him 3 times, I finally made contact. He was still unapologetic, rude and full of excuses, blaming everyone and everything else, and took no accountability for having left 4 people with no room at 1.30 in the morning. I’ve never experienced such horrendous service and feel it important to highlight what happened so people considering booking are aware of what could happen to you, and how poor the customer service is."

I went to Finch Hatton with my friends for Afternoon Tea to celebrate my 1st Re-Birthday (after a close call with a heart attack). The room had a lovely atmosphere and the food was delicious. We really enjoyed our Afternoon Tea. Thank you! Sorry for the delayed review, I had trouble logging into Trip Advisor.

My stay here for two nights was great, comfortable room, great shower, beautiful surroundings, and the restaurant and pub were excellent. Everyone, staff, local patrons, were friendly and welcoming. The food was really good, from pizza (who knew, pizza in England) to a steak dinner. Wonderful place. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5

Had a meal here with visiting family who were staying here. The quality of the food was excellent as was the table service didn't get the names of the staff but it was on Aug 4th and evening and the waitresses were really brilliant. Popped up to the rooms for a quick look really nice, really comfortable. I'm a beer drinker and the Timothy Taylor Landlord was on and what a lovely pint and obviously well looked after. I look forward to popping in again before the summer is over. I highly recommend a visit.

I stayed at this restaurant for 2 nights while visiting family. The check-in process was easy and the room was lovely with a clean and comfy bed. The breakfast served on both mornings was great and the staff were very friendly. One minor issue I encountered was that the hand soap in the en-suite appeared to be watered down, and the hand cream provided was not usable due to a broken top. Despite these small issues, everything else was perfect and I am not sure why these basic amenities were overlooked. I will definitely visit again in the future.

I booked the Finch Hatton for afternoon tea and an evening meal the following day. The occasion was my mum’s 90th birthday party and we used their function room at the rear of the building, which also had access to a private garden area. The entire event went off without a hitch and both the staff and the service were outstanding. The food was excellent and extremely good value. The staff on both days were superb and always willing to go the extra mile to provide a top-quality service. I would definitely recommend the Finch Hatton to anyone seeking a location to hold a celebration party.

This was our first visit to The Finch Hatton and it is undeniable we will stay there again without hesitation if circumstances allow. Our room was good, so too was the ensuite bathroom. It looked out over the back of the building away from the carparking area, thus ours was a quiet room very much appreciated. Initially the room was a little chilly but the hotel 's heating system soon took away that minor annoyance. The building is relatively old, originally a hunting lodge I believe. As a consequence the property does have the odd quirk to it, but that for us just enhanced its charm. The bar was inviting and was used by some of its neighbours as their local . The dining room was comfortable...

"Very good. this renovated and updated gastro pub has a beautiful, high-end feeling, without too posh. the personal is pleasant, real and well maintained. good drink selection! music selection didn't seem fit, but not extraordinarily. eating is exceptional, but, based on some personal preferences, there were slightly smaller disappointments with each dish. all were presented beautifully! the scallop starter was perfectly cooked, but there was an unexpected sticky texture on the sea red side. the chilis needed something sweet to balance them, but it was a nice warm pop. the acid from the grapefruit mixed with the petersilie mayonnaise drizzle, but both were delicious. some either flash-frozen or dry germinated greens gave beautiful texture, and the dish as a whole was beautiful. the duck ice starter was rich without being hard. slowly boiled (inspiring sous vide,) the egg was perfect. it was on a bed of slowly baked cheekwange, which is longing! some picking mushrooms have also added beautiful acid contrast. the brioche disc on which everything sat was not my favorite, but again can be personal preference. it seemed too thick, dense and sweet for the court. either would have been a nice sourded or an airy crawling cut my choice. again a very tasty dish. the healbutt main was absolutely wonderful! in butter lubricated, with fennel, white asparagus, a butter sauce with raw and squid-ink pasta. all with dill fronds. only small critique was the toughness of the tips of the braided fennel without knife, which is suitable for cutting through. a unique and very pleasant experience! it was great."
