"The 3 stars I 've given were based on my experience and not the food as unfortunately we didn 't order anything to eat. Upon arriving, we came to a sign saying please wait here to be seated . A young lady gave us a table number to accommodate our party of five, but we weren 't seated by her and went in the direction she showed (could of done this all by ourselves, unsure why she was there as not very busy). Only one menu, limited choice in price range variation. Would of liked a bacon bap, but this was on the breakfast menu and only served 9-11am I believe, so not an all day option for whatever reason. There were absolutely no sandwiches to chose from if you wanted a light bite and it was a case of get up and order at the till. Absolutely fine with that but when you see some of the pricing of the food, £18.50 for Haddock and Chips, I 'd of expected table service because those prices are definitely restaurant and not cafe rates. Seems Doddington aren 't sure which it is. We went into Lincoln for lunch in the end. Castle area, near the bail, where you can get excellent Fish and Chips for £15.95, from a proper fish restaurant and be waited on too. At the other end of the scale, there 's places that offer delicious homemade scone and toasties incase you are unable to stomach a heavy meal on a hot midday. No bank loan needed in the big city of Lincoln! Such a shame, Doddington Hall and Gardens were beautiful and staff very helpful, friendly and informative. Food pricing at cafe/restaurant really is expensive and capitalize on people not wanting to travel elsewhere for food. (Soft drinks and coffees were on par with everywhere else though)"

"The outstanding customer service started a week before our booking! I contacted the restaurant to ask if they would be able to prepare a main course dish that was not on the menu. They were so helpful! Not only was the chef able to accommodate, but also offered to prepare my favourite dish being beef Wellington. On the day of the meal, the hotel telephoned to ask if my husband would also like to have the beef Wellington as well. I’ve never known such outstanding customer service.. we felt incredibly special from the outset. The entire experience on the evening was phenomenal! The service could not have been more attentive and the dining room itself .. beautiful, just stunning. The food is the pièce de résistance .. this was without doubt the best meal I’ve ever had in a restaurant, not just locally but anywhere. I started with the ‘Parsnip Thyme Velouté, Lardo Warm Soda’ which was absolutely delicious. Then came the main, the beef Wellington with truffle mash and jus which was just stunning. The presentation was a work of art, and the taste and flavours were just divine. This is my favourite dish and I have ordered it in many restaurants around the world over the years, none have compared to Washingborough Hall. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. This is not just a meal out, this is a dining and culinary experience you will not forget."

"We travelled out to Norton Disney in light of the BBC news article regarding Walt Disney’s ancestors. We had a fab day in the beautiful landscape of Norton Disney. Arrived at the Green Man, following the same journey as Walt when he visited. Customer service was poor when entering, it felt very hostile initially. Bar staff were rude, specifically female. We were asked if we had a table booked to which we confirmed no, and asked if we could have a drink outside. Female noted she would need “to ask her manager”. We were given the okay and we ordered drinks. Another member of bar staff asked the female if “she could make a coffee.” Female noted “**** if I have to” and I felt this was blasphomy and offensive given my religious background. We wanted to order food and so called to book a table from outside given our reluctance to approach bar staff. Upon being seated we asked if the table candle could be lit by female and was informed she would “need to ask.” Food arrived and it was fantastic we thoroughly enjoyed, especially the roast dinner. Was not sure how I felt about eating next to staff on their break given we were informed of the “few tables” available when initially arriving. We were also not approached after being served food to asked if all was okay. Food was good, beautiful area but ultimately let down by the customer service. update post review having since posted a review I am appalled by the response from the owner. Very defensive and a complete deflection of some of the concerns raised. i am insulted that is has been suggested that my judgement was impaired from having three beers. The staff were indeed rude on this occasion and rather than take it on board to enhance their training, the manager deems it appropriate to belittle a customer for their honest reviews. Huge red flag for me and will not be returning. further edit in light of MORE comments from manager good Christian values do not behold a child of Christ from being respectfully honest. I am unable to accept this level of narcissism. Good day to you and the best for your business in the future. Price per person: £30–40 Food: 4 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Recommended dishes: Sunday Roast with Pork"
