"I visited this cafe on Saturday last week and the food was excellent. The only gripe I have was that the coffee tasted horrible. I asked one of the staff for a replacement cup of coffee and I was told that just because I didn't like the coffee she wouldn't replace it. I had to buy another cup of coffee . In my experience most cafes offer to replace a drink if it is to strong or you don't like the flavor. I was told by the manageress that this was the finest Italian coffee. Well I disagree it was from a machine. The coffee I bought to replace it was a cappuccino and this was very good. I however do not think you should have to buy another drink if you don't like the flavor of the drink you bought. I have been to cafes before and have had a drink replaced if I didn't like it. Also I had to wait for the manageress to undertake my request as the young lad I approached couldn't accommodate my request as he had to ask his boss. The food was very good and served quickly. But please rethink your attitude when it comes to replacing drinks. Meal type: Brunch Price per person: £10–20"

I took a motorbike ride to Toddington and stopped for coffee. The staff were very friendly. I ordered takeout, and it was very affordable—just £1 to £10 per person. I would rate the food a perfect 5, the service a 5, and the atmosphere a 5 as well.

"I booked way ahead to celebrate our 18 year anniversary. I told them I needed a gluten free diet. The day before we were due to dine I received a call saying they had had a meeting with environmental health and they were no longer allowed to call their food gluten free, it was now low gluten due to the risk of cross contamination in their small kitchen. Having eaten at the Chefs Table there twice before I said I was happy and had never been poorly after previous visits. So the next day we went for our celebration meal only what I didn’t realise was that when they give you gluten free they take out everything not just the gluten. My bread came with oil, my husband had beautiful butters. When my husband had octopus I got a pepper and when he had turbot I got a mushroom. I’M NOT A VEGAN!!!!! I wasn’t happy at all. The waiter said he was sorry I was disappointed and that next time they would try to accommodate a variation of the menu for me. Even when the dessert came the waiter proudly told my mind was “veganised”. I could have cried. And as for the wine flight, what a waste of money! The wine was slopped in, one of us would get 1cm of wine, the other one would get 3 cm. The sommelier seemed to think that was pretty amusing. We should have just bought 2 bottles of wine. It was ridiculous. There was nothing about the evening that would make me want to go back. This was over £650 for two of us. It should have been phenomenal. It’s my last visit to Paris House."

"Given one menu between three people and expected to know our order within five minutes of arriving; well, that’s the attitude of the young lady serving us as she blatantly rolled her eyes at us because we weren’t ready to order! The second time the young lady came to take our order, the last of our party was trying to find the pizza on the menu (as well as clearly trying to keep an eye on her small child! as it is on the downloadable version from the website and clearly advertised on the café’s Facebook cover photo!! To help my friend out, I asked the lady serving us if the café still served pizza, to which she replied no and did we need extra time, then once again rolled her eyes when we answered yes to needing a bit more time. I’d understand if the café was busy, but there were only three other small groups of customers in the café. It was just utter rudeness! The young lady is obviously very inexperienced when it comes to customer service and would benefit from further training/shadowing of more experienced staff. In addition to this, if pizza is no longer on offer, the café needs to seriously update what they are advertising online! I ordered the cauliflower aloo gobi dhansak jacket potato. The dhansak was so stodgy and tasteless, I didn’t enjoy it. At no point did any of the staff check to see if our food was to our satisfaction. Apart from the young lady taking our order having rolled her eyes at us twice, there was no contact from the staff until we got up to pay; the staff couldn’t move quick enough to clear our plates!! A disappointing experience, particularly as this café USED to have outstanding service and fantastic food! Wouldn’t recommend with its current standards."
