"this is without doubt the dirtiest place i have ever encountered ! we booked a stay for one night as its on the coast to coast route. the floor in the bar as soon as we walked in set alarm bells ringing. we were given the key went to the room on the thread bear filthy stair carpet and when we got to the room that carpet was no better. it was so dirty that we wore shoes to go to the toilet during the night. the bathroom was mouldy in the shower and the carpet was rotten and again black where the shower has leaked. it was so bad and disgustingly dirty that we spent the afternoon trying to find another hotel pub to put us up. unfortunately they were all full (believe me we tried every other place there was) . the only thing that was a plus was that the bedding was clean but looking at the rest of the place you could not stop thinking wondering about what was under said bedding ?? didnt dare look TBH. we were a group of 10 that all agreed if thats what the rooms are like what will the kitchen be like and decided to eat across the road in the devonshire arms. they kindly let us put our bikes in the back yard for safety overnight which was also in a disgusting filthy state for a pub hotel if you dont mind filth then you will be ok otherwise my advice would be to give this place a massive swerve."

After a day's walking it was good to be welcomed by friendly staff who produced the required pots of tea with impressive speed.

Enjoyed a family meal at the Foresters Arms last night. We were running late and they kindly accomodated a 30 minute delay to our booking arrival time at short notice. Great food at a decent price.

Stopped for a drink and a sandwich and it was fine, the place however could do with a refurb. It’s looking very tired in places. The barman however was very friendly and the food was reasonably priced and tasty.

I am a great believer that owners of small hotels should sleep in every room to see what their customers get. In the room I had they would find that the shower is just about useless and the bar staff have no concept at all...

The staff were very friendly on arrival, room was clean bed was OK. no parking available near the pub when I arrived. I had to park a mile away and walk with bags. It was very very noisy all night and people were in the bar shouting and very loud until 1am. I had to be up at 5am and couldn’t get to sleep I was promised a take away breakfast left for me which never materialised So on the whole I wasn’t happy. View menu

We watched cricket and football at The Foresters before our meal and it’s a lovely exuberant pub. Walk over the other part of the bar and you have a cosy restaurant with the best food I’ve had in a long time. Huge specials board with lots of gluten free options for me and fish dishes for the other half. I had the belly pork with dauphinois potatoes and it was truly delicious. Other half had the fish pie which was creamy and stuffed with fish. Sticky toffee pudding and custard finished. Absolutely superb. Compliments to the chef, fabulous food

A very traditional and local pub in a quaint village. We visited here for our tea one night, as we were staying in a lodge nearby. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Not a modern/chain style pub, but very traditional and full of friendly local people and we liked this aspect. They had a lovely open fire going whilst we were there. Had a good variety of food options for different dietary requirements. My partner is vegan and there were good options for him. Our food was served pretty quickly and was very good quality, we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Very reasonably priced too. A very welcoming atmosphere, would definitely be a regular if we were local! Definitely recommend a visit
