"My wife and I dropped in for lunch, having visited the nearby National Trust gardens. We received a warm, friendly welcome from the staff. A lovely menu, of which we were both tempted by several dishes. My wife had the vegetable burger and I the steak and ale pie. Great portions and beautifully cooked. Was nearly seduced by the dessert menu but was just too full! Will have to return to try it out!"

We had booked for 4 of us at lunchtime. The pub was really busy but you could not fault the friendly service. The menu is extensive but if there was a criticism it was too varied and I think the quality of the food we had suffered. Good value. Service: 4 Hotel highlights: Great value
