"I aways come here for drinks and food it is a really great pub which has a cobbled floor in the bar area and little nooks and crannies to sit in which really add to the old age of the pub. There is usually a good choice of Ales to drink Ferryman by Exeter Brewery was a gorgeous drink on today's visit. We had food too as is the norm when we go and as always the quality of food was excellent and good value too for what you get. Prawn cocktail was very tasty really fresh prawns. The chips were excellent very hot and tasty triple cooked. The cod has skin on the bottom and the fish and batter was very tasty. The Lemon Sole very good too. Probably could have done with a few more prawns in the Garlic Prawns though. The Duck a La Orange is awesome with the mash creamed leeks and sauce so tasty. The fish pie is loaded full of fish as are the other pies too. The food is ALWAYS top class. There were a group of undesirable on the table near us who you knew were gonna kick off and argue the bill and stuff, they did not disappoint in that though they were totally unjustified in their made up complaints .... staff were excellent (especially the bar manager Lauren) in the face of such hostility. This is a bar restaurant that absolutely deserves to be visited and I highly recommend the food and atmosphere here. The staff are all absolutely brilliant too. Whether they have been there for many years or are relatively new. Awesome food and service everytime. Seek this place out when you visit Torquay book in advance and enjoy."

Just the best Sunday roast in Torquay! You have the restaurant area, but if it is fully booked, you can sit in the pub area where they also serve food. I had a single course on Sunday roasting and w6as more than enough for me. Delicious!

We frequently visit Torquay and have been here a few times after a friend recommended it to us. We recently visited after COVID and it was amazing. The food and service hasn't changed. Everything was amazing and food is full of flavour . We will be back next time!

A very picturesque public house in one of the back streets in Torquay. A two or three course Sunday lunch is with a selection of meat. I had the three course choices and it was very nice too. The service of both bar staff and kitchen staff was excellent and could not be fault-free. The pub has a lot of atmosphere, but you may need to avoid the low beams when you are large in stature. With a wide selection of drinks it is worth a visit

This pub has so much character. Visited on Wednesday noon, quiet. The lady behind the bar knew her stuff and recommended it. When it lay down the jug behind the bar, it was slightly cloudy and immediately asked if I wanted something else, although I had half the first drunk. Both were a great tasting! Love they took care of their beer! Ordered a crab sandwich and it was one of the best I cost and at a reasonable price! Very impressed, can easily recommend!

"From the off, everything was bang on point. The warmth of the welcome, being taken straight to our table and offered water and an aperitif promptly. We, a party of three, opted for the set lunch, which offers very good value for money. £29.50 for two courses, £35 for three, with two options for each course. Two of us opted for the baked Roscoff onion with pearl barley. Simple ingredients but beautifully cooked with a truly sublime brown onion sauce of such intensity, it lifted an already lovely plate of food to another level. The other person had the ponzu cured mackerel which she pronounced lovely but she had serious food envy over the onion dish. The main courses were grilled hake, which again was sauced to perfection and a grilled bavette with a vegetable medley and a pea? puree and a meat jus. We added a small dish of dauphinois at £5 which complimented everything very well. We drank a good and reasonably priced Rioja Blanco. No room for dessert sadly. This restaurant is not cheap but there is a difference between cost and value and The Elephant offers very good value with the set lunch; it allows you to sample really very good cooking at a price that will not break the bank. The normal a la carte menu is around double the price but on looking at what this offered, I would say that it again offers good value for money, being a step up in choice with more expensive ingredients. This is a serious restaurant. Go there. You will not be disappointed."
