"Called in this morning, for a breakfast. Anyone that knows me,knows I like my food. The breakfast came out a short time, after ordering. It was huge,I didn't know if to climb it or eat it? Everything was cooked perfectly was also fresh piping hot. The quality of food, was superb. The staff place it's self, was very clean, friendly inviting. Don't visit Ulverston, without finding this Gem,for bite to eat,you won't be disappointed."

When you arrive for breakfast on a rainy Tuesday morning in October and half the tables are reserved, you know you're in for a special experience. The food was fantastic and the service was lovely. The menu was interesting and creative. The potato rostis were definitely worth the wait.

"Staff were very friendly, welcoming and efficient. They were also very kind to our dog. We had drinks and food and though the drinks were good, the food was not. The words 'frozen ' and 'microwave ' were forefront in my mind throughout. The mash potato I had with my pie was face meltingly hot suggesting the microwave was used, and my wife 's battered fish was mushy and watery suggesting it was deep fried from frozen. The batter was also only about 1mm thick and was like wise mushy. The meat in my chunky steak pie was definatly chunky but was a little too firm (not tough, just not tender. Probably the wrong cut of meat rather than badly cooked). I then had the caramel apple pie as did another member of my party. While his was hot, mine was cold. I had mine with cream which when it arrived, had bubbles in and was luke warm. What I think happened was that mine was microwaved first and then drowned in cream and left to sit while the other was microwaved. This mean mine cooled in the cream while the cream warmed. It also meant that the pastry on the bottom went soggy, and from the rest of the pastry, it didn 't seem like it had much crisp to begin with. Now I know that times are hard and pubs like this can 't be expected to make everything from scratch, but there are 3 other pubs close by and unfortunately this one is doing nothing to stand out from the others, in terms of food anyway. Overall, a nice place for a quiet drink, but I 'll not be back for the food. The only saving grace was the price; £80 for 2 rounds of drinks (1 pint, 1 coke and 2 halves per round), 4 mains and 2 desserts...I suppose you get that you pay for though..."
