"After a dazzling afternoon of sunshine in glorious Margate, we completely lucked out by bagging a table at this exceptional restaurant in Margate's old town. The menu had plenty of fish and meat/poultry dishes, with mussels in a mildly spiced curry suitably impressing my partner,...while I chose the vegetarian main of roasted vegetable linguine. Both main courses were absolutely delicious, provoking plenty of comments to each other on quite how good the food was. Despite the generosity of the mains, we couldn't resist ordering desserts a great cheese platter and a light and delicate apple tart with ice cream. I made the mistake of offering some of the apple tart to my other half, and promptly watched it disappear! The decor and atmosphere in this laid back restaurant, along with the friendly welcome, made for a superb evening. We will certainly be back!"

Came for Sunday lunch and it was just what we were looking for great atmosphere, friendly staff and superb food. Our year old had the biggest piece of chicken pie and ate the lot we have never seen him eat so much!

Popped in for dinner on a solo trip to Margate and it was a perfect meal after a long days walk along the coast. I had the beef bouguignon and it was pure comfort in a bowl, Beautiful tender beef and lovely veggies and served...with some wonderful tartiflette potatoes. Great covid safe service, amazing value for money and a very satisfying meal.

Just had a fabulous lunch here, very friendly and welcoming and great food, my wife had the pie of the day which was chicken vegetable, served with potatoes and a great selection of vegetables which were all excellently cooked. I had the seafood linguine...which was fresh with lovely mussels prawns in a very tasty sauce. Very impressed with this place and would definitely recommend a visit. Thanks guys View menu

My partner and I were very lucky to book a table on the May bank holiday weekend and we’re very impressed with the quality of the food. A small menu but perfectly varied to cater for most tastes. We had the chicken and mushroom pie...with roasted vegetables. It was ample in portion and delicious. We would have returned the following evening but alas, the restaurant is only open on a couple of evenings each week. We’ll be sure to pay a visit when we return to Margate though :

Really good! Very surprised, as from outside I thought was a pub. Very cool environment, super relaxed and warm but the best was the food and the people. Strong recommend! Unfortunately I couldn’t try more than 1 dish but many others sounded super appealing... maybe next time I come to Margate. I had the mussels and were amazing. Loved the curried and coconut taste, addictive! Went to the Chef to ask for recommendation and they were super helpful and spot on! Congratulations for the cool restaurant and friendly people. Continue the good work. Cheers.

"Having been raised at the knees of Caribbean and African women, sometimes I’m just in need of some soul food. I’ve often gone past Mullins and seen that it is busy, and looks bright, clean, warm and friendly. And it is. The decor works really well. Low-key, warm and welcoming. Music is a soothing stream of lilting Caribbean classics. The waiting staff are lovely. So friendly. And the menu looks great. There isn’t too much of it, and it is quite hard to choose because it all sounds amazing. Price points are really good. But. The food is genuinely terrible. I went for a Creole fish stew. I don’t know how you can make a stew without flavour. When you are cooking things slowly and together, flavour infuses flavour. But not here. This was a good sized portion of piping hot well presented food. But my God it tasted awful. Basically chopped potato surrounded by small lumps of bland unidentifiable white fish, half a dozen mussels, some of which were still closed, and therefore inedible, and three flavourless prawns in shells. There was a pinch of Samphire on the top, and this was the sum total of the vegetables I could find. It came in what I can only describe as a thick red sauce. If there was tomato in it, there was no flavour to it. It was highly salty, and this was the dominant flavour throughout. The fish had no flavour of fish, and it was intensely spiced in a lip plumping way. Essentially, it was all heat and salt. With a slight tang of gents toilets. I suspect this was from the mussels. I did raise the blandness twice with the waiter, and the strange unpleasant toilet flavour. He said he would tell chef. And that was that. No feedback on the dreadful flavour other than that it was all fresh. I ate the entirety of the meal because I had travelled a long way and had not eaten. I saw it simply as fuel. It was not enjoyable. I paid and left. Mullins is so close to getting everything right, but a restaurant is its food. I’m not going back."
