"We seriously cannot praise the lovely Staff at the newly taken over Kings Head enough after visiting here last week. They were so warm and welcoming as was the log fire which created a cosy atmosphere and nothing was too much trouble for both of...the lovely girls serving us. They easily accommodated our needs with a smile. The food was an absolute delight and cooked to perfection by a Chef who really knew his onions! We started with Chicken Gougons and the Oriental Pork Belly, both dishes tantalising our taste buds in readiness for our main course. I chose the Fish and Chips which were triple cooked and delicious. The batter which coated the succulent white haddock was light and crispy, exactly how I like it and the salad accompanying my meal was seasoned and dressed perfectly. Thank you Chef. My Husband chose the Pork Belly which was a melt in the mouth delight with the crispiest of crackling and fresh vegetables to accompany it. We opted to skip dessert and ordered a Coffee which was served with a lovely homemade shortbread biscuit. An unexpected but very nice touch. Eating in such a relaxing and friendly environment enhanced the enjoyment of such a superb lunch and we can't wait to visit here again. We would like to take this opportunity to wish the new Proprietors every success and would highly recommend anyone to book a meal here soon. You will not be disappointed."

Booked for lunch just before Christmas. Very busy as expected but service was ok. It a large menu and rec rd on ham, egg and chips. Again ok but quite pricey for size of meal. Sticky toffee pudding was delicious.

Went to kings head for a family birthday of us. I had the seafood pasta, the first time I had tried mussels and I loved them. My son had the large rack of ribs and he could not eat them all and he cant...wait to have them again !! My husband had the fish and chips which was also very good.

Really like this place. Use mainly at lunch time and enjoy the atmosphere. It’s a decent restaurant with good food in generous portions and very pleasant people looking after you. Despite being a popular eating venue unlike many hostelries it’s retained a proper pub character...with a good range of beers which are well kept.

Lovely lunch with my cousins whilst ancestor hunting in the vicinity . The food was delicious and staff helpful . We all had chicken breaded escalope with new potatoes and salad. Very generous portion. Unfortunately we could only have ice cream as deserts weren’t served...after a certain time it was probably ish by then which was disappointing and the only reason for stars not

Visited for Sunday lunch on Father’s Day and was so pleased with our meal from start to finish! Lovely friendly staff who would go above and beyond for you, starters pudding were very tasty and the roast was amazing! Massive Yorkshire’s and a lot...of meat! Children’s portions were more than enough too and eaten up very quickly! Will definitely return even if it’s just for the exceptional gravy! Special thanks to Isablle who is a credit to the team!

As a walking group of gentlemen we end our walk with a lunch at a pub. Previously we visited the Kings Head last September. COVID restrictions at that time meant we had to eat out side. We returned as we were well received by staff,...the food and beer was all very good. Now with the COVID rules allowing us to eat inside we decided to return. As before the staff were attentive, there is a good range of good food, drink, including well kept real ales available so we were once again very pleased with our choice of lunch stop.

"We came here on a last minute hunt to find a Sunday roast with family without much expectations. However when entering its a lovely set up and we were greeted by Lee and Alison who looked after us for the meal who just to begin were absolutely brilliant, they really care about the customers and make this place extra special. Now for the food you can get a 2 or 3 course meal so everybody made various selections but all had starters. Most went for the Aarancina which isn't your usual starter with a Sunday roast but for here it packs alot of flavour and is a great way to start the meal. They have a great selection of alcoholic beverages I went for a simple beer. For the main roasts we had a variety of meats I wanted the pork but sadly they had no crackling which was half the reason for ordering but if I am being honest after eating the meal it wasn't missed out the meat was tasty full of flavour but the sides were the key. The roast potatoes were of a top level usually when you eat out they are never as good as eating at home, the Yorkshire were huge and tasty, gravy brilliant with plenty to go around and lots of veg and cauliflower cheese on the side. Honestly this was excellent a really good roast probably the best I have ever ate in a resteraunt. Some of the others had the lamb shank which was huge and had great feedback but the beef was great and so was everything else. So yes check it out eat in and eat some great food in a nice setting with absolutely brilliant service you won't be disappointed."

"What can I say….We held our wedding dinner and impromptu party ! on the mezzanine floor and had the time of our lives with our nearest and dearest. It’s been a pretty special place for us as we dined at the House by Hilly Gant to check the area out before moving from London and so as we were having a small wedding of 22 people we felt this was the best place to have our wedding. Suzanne and the team could not have done anything more to make our afternoon and evening so perfect. The food was outstanding and our guests were very impressed Harry and his cocktail making skills are second to none. Huge shout out to all the kitchen staff who’s attention to detail and timings were spot on. Leading up to the day itself Suzanne took charge and offered her expert advice on how to dress the room and made so much effort with our requirements. 3 children and 1 baby as part of the guest list! . The beef in particular was spectacular and the chocolate fondant was sublime. We honestly didn’t want to leave. After dinner Suzanne was able to crank the music up and we had a little party ensuring all the guests downstairs were still well looked after our friends were actually dining downstairs and were able to join us towards the latter part of the evening! From the bottom of our hearts thank you so much to everyone for making it so special for us. I’m not surprised that you were recently awarded your second rosette, totally deserved. For anyone looking for quality food, locally sourced, and beautifully executed this is the place to come. SEE YOU SOON and thank you again x"
