"From the moment we walked in the door, we were greeted with a smile, the atmosphere was good, full table service, the lovely young lady came and asked us what we would like to order, drinks came very quickly and the food followed shortly after, food was of a very high standard, plentiful and very tasty, would highly recommend this gem of a place, so clean, was lovely to walk in somewhere where the tables are not sticky, and the menu is clean, makes a refreshing change, so many establishments should be taking a leaf out of the book of the people who run this place, absolutely amazing, if we holiday up this way again, we wouldn't hesitate to pop in for another fantastic meal. thank you"

The restaurant was busy, but the service was good and we really enjoyed the carvery. The meat was cooked well and the portions were generous.

We had a wonderful lunch at this lovely restaurant with friendly staff. After being turned away from a racist cafe, we were able to enjoy a relaxing meal here.

Great roast dinner and awesome location for watching the world go by. The hanging baskets and flowers are beautiful. The table service is a little bit of a pain if you want to order more drinks but this would be our only gripe.

The Mailmans is our go-to pub in Lyndhurst. Indeed a visit to Lyndhurst isn't the same without popping in here for lunch or dinner. The food is lovely and the staff amazing. We've been coming here for 15 years and the quality has always been the best. Thanks guys.

I had the lamb rump meal on Saturday and it was plentiful and delicious. The service was great, with a good selection of beers and wines. We enjoyed it so much that we returned on Sunday for their Sunday Special and once again the food and service were faultless. I highly recommend this restaurant - great food and great staff.

I have just had the most amazing steak and Stilton pie. It was served with mash and fresh veg. My husband had the warm smoked mackerel meal which was gf. Both meals were quality. We made room for the syrup sponge (gf) too. Again … top quality. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Excellent atmosphere. We will return !!! This is our 2nd trip here this holiday. The Sunday carvery was out of this world too !! Roll on next time

Really great cavery.... meat was succulent and there was a wide array of freshly cooked veg, pigs in blankets, stuffing and accompiaments. Would wholeheartedly recommend it for meat eaters. Out vegetarian friend who just asked for vegetables was quite surprised to still be charged the full price of £15. If we'd have known this in advance I'd have asked for meat on a separate plate, and we'd have eaten her portion. Does seem a little unfair

Please be aware that it is not a Green King pub even though there are Greene King signs all around. It is owned by Greene King but leased out so please be aware that they will not take any of the Greene King Chain vouchers. I have brought this up with Greene King as it was very misleading. It was 9pm on a wedneday. no one else in the pub. The welcome seemed a bit false and after we had ordered drinks I think we figured out why as they starting clearing everything from outside and looked like doing a final wipe down inside. Think we had stopped them shutting early.

"My Wife and I don't travel so well these days but decided to go a little further afield from our usual Highcliffe and Christchurch haunts we live in Mudeford. We went twice in point of fact. The first visit was the 21st June when My wife and I had a quiet Birthday celebration lunch prior to the Family celebration later in the day. It was excellent. We only had the Mains and despite it being busy and not having booked we were served promptly and cheerfully with a round of drinks. My Wife had Chicken Pie and I had Liver and Bacon. Both were excellent and my Wifes vegetables were freshly done. I don't have vegetables. We liked it so much we went back three days later to celebrate our youngest Daughters birthday and again had lunch before the Family celebration later in the day. The meal was as fabulous as three days prior. My Wife had a Chicken Roast, our Daughter had Beef Roast and I had an amazingly well filled Steak and Merlot Pie of the Week. As before the vegetables were freshly done. Unusually for us we also had puddings (Lemon Meringue, Bailey's Cheescake and Apple Tart with Custard. All were excellent. All washed down with Tea and a Latte the former being served in nicely twee Teapots. Total cost £80 for the three of us on the second visit. Worth every penny. All in all First Class and couldn't fault it. Disabled parking nicely located in the front with ample parking for those more mobile at the side and back. Just a note for History buffs. The main building was built in 1853 by John Harrison(? a Carpenter thus the name Carpenters Arms."
