"The food was excellent, but we will probably not go back when we hear that the service has improved. Our table was booked for 7.15 a.m. and we waited one hour before our order and then another hour before our food. To be fair, some of our party came 15 minutes too late and we apologized, as we know that this can cause problems for the staff. However, we would have estimated an explanation or apology for the delay. When our dessert menu came, we all felt that it was too late to eat one so we did not order. It was a shame when we all agreed that the food was excellent."

Finally a place to eat near Banbury that is fit for my parents who are used to fine dinning!

The food at this restaurant was excellent. Unfortunately, the front of house was a bit disorganized that day. It seemed like the staff were just a little overwhelmed.

We had a delightful meal at the restaurant, with the twice cooked cheese soufflé being particularly amazing. The fish soup was also excellent, impressing even my hard-to-please husband who said he would order it again. We enjoyed the Chilean Merlot as well, finding it to be very smooth.

The Boxing Hare was very friendly with friendly locals lovely helpful staff who explained certain aspects of the menu, helped my very fussy 84 year old Dad and according to my Dad kept a good pint...... what more can you want the food was hot tasty and plentiful, they served amazing bread cooked n their premises so fresh so tasty lovely

The Boxing Hare was a very welcoming restaurant, with friendly locals and helpful staff who took the time to explain some items on the menu. They were especially accommodating towards my very picky 84-year-old father, who enjoyed a good pint. The food was served hot and in generous portions, including delicious, freshly baked bread made on-site. It was a truly beautiful experience.

The service was exceptional and there were some interesting items on the menu that tempted us to order something new and different. The quality and presentation of the food was very good and pretty quick considering it was a busy Friday night. It was quite noisy at times due to a party of men on the next table but we would definitely recommend the Boxing Hare and will be going again for a special occasion.

"I’m frustrated and annoyed with booking a romantic meal for our year wedding anniversary, with the current pandemic and work commitments it made a change to make an effort and be excited to visit the boxing hare as the reviews had been excellent. We...were seated in the garden room, next to a family who were on first name terms with the waiting staff and who were so loud I thought I was at a Chelsea match! We received complimentary glasses of champagne and we placed our order for starters and main which were excellent however I felt rushed with the service, as much as I tried to have a conversation all I could hear was this family at decibels to which enough was enough usually I would say something, however rather than ruin there evening I asked for us to be reseated to which the waiting staff were in agreement that they were loud! So why place us next to them? We were given a table in a different part of the pub still busy with other diners giving respect to one another. The table given I was advised I had as it was reserved? I placed dessert order and two lattes with baileys followed by the bill! The bill was a tad on the steep side for a gastro pub perhaps the prices are based on the price of fuel to fill the owners Bentley Overall felt it was a rushed evening disappointed with the seating arrangements,I won’t be returning as I felt what was important to us wasn’t important to the Boxing Hare I’ve had better evenings at The Falkland Arms Great Tew, The Great Western Aynho"
