"My cousin and I had a delightful dining experience at the Old Cross Inn. Upon arrival, we received a warm welcome and were seated promptly. The menu and specials were explained to us, allowing us time to choose our meals. Our orders were taken, and when the food arrived, we were thoroughly impressed. The pasta with spinach, pine nuts, and chicken was amazing, while my wife's goat cheese and pine nut salad was full of flavor. My cousin ordered a smaller portion of fish and chips, which he found to be delicious despite the generous serving of chips. The highlight of our meal was the dessert - we all opted for the special Eaton mess with strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries. The dessert was light, flavorful, and a true gem. We are looking forward to returning to the Old Cross Inn, thanks to the exceptional staff."

Perfect place to stay. The food was fantastic and the staff was very friendly. Rooms get a perfect score of 5, as does the service and location. Hotel is quiet and offers great value.

What a gem to find when we visited Blairgowrie we called late to organise a meal for four and the owners could not have been more helpful. The service was first class and the food was excellent. Prices are very reasonable as is the portion size. Definitely a keeper for our next visit View menu

I was disappointed with this restaurant. Despite its high reviews and claim to be dog-friendly, I tried to call ahead to make a booking but there was no answer. When we popped in to check, the lady informed us that dogs were only allowed in the lounge area. She thought the restaurant was busy and full without actually checking, even though it was a Sunday night.

The food is lovely and there is an extensive vegan menu. The vegan macaroni is very good. Soya milk is available on request to take up to your room for tea/coffees. Room decor is nice in the inn. Only downside I could point out is that the shower head needed a good scrub as was a bit mouldy, and the mattress was very hard. But the Old Cross is always our 'go too ' for a casual meal.

The hotel has a worn-down atmosphere. While the bedroom was spacious, the ensuite toilet did not belong in a modern hotel. The window frame was filled with rotten wood, the shower unit was falling apart, and there was wet rot around the shower on the wooden floor. The food in the restaurant was good, but there was a very limited selection, even with specials available. Overall, it was not a great experience. View menu

Stayed overnight and decided to eat there too... And it was absolutely fantastic! The rooms are simple but have all you need for a nice overnight stay. The restaurant was excellent and the menu was great, it has changed from the one that is online, see photos attached. Portion sizes are good and we didn't leave hungry. The chef was friendly and very good at his job. Service was speedy and efficient. Don't hesitate to come here for a meal and even stay the night.

We only went here for food not a stay. We first found here when looking for somewhere with a good veggie menu, which it does! A couple of family members went and thoroughly enjoyed seitan, something which they had never tried before. The following night we went, you first enter through what looks like a regular pub to go through into a lovely restaurant. When there we had a steak pie, which was brilliant. The only thing I would change is I would have my mash more smooth than it was although that is probably merely preference. If this was round the corner we would regularly frequent. Staff we very friendly and attentive, when leaving a tip when paying the bill they were also very appreciative...

"We visited to see the Beatrix Potter Exhibition with family who were visiting and spent a lovely hour going around the exhibition, however our nice time was rudely interrupted by the elderly lady working in the cafe with dyed black curly hair. We have one child with serious allergies, so instead of one child feeling left out and risking cross exposure, we packed safe snacks for all the kids going anywhere with allergies is an absolute nightmare, so we always do this. Most places are trained and appreciative of how hard it is to eat out with allergens and happy to make reasonable adjustments for this. All four adults ate from the cafe. When part of our order was delivered, we were told “this isn’t a picnic area, you can’t eat your own food, you wouldn’t take food in to McDonald’s” (whilst looking at the 2 year old eating her snacks) when I responded yes I actually would, we have a child with allergies, she asked if it was serious allergies to which I said yes and she scoffed and left, no apology, nothing. I must add that whether the children would be eating or not, they would still have to sit at the table and take up the same amount of space. Would the children also be prevented from sitting because they didn’t buy from the cafe? Still waiting on my food order twenty minutes later and having already finished my coffee and frustrated at the wait, I asked for a refund as we now felt hurried to leave because of how upset she was at the children eating snacks at the table without purchasing them in their cafe. I got the refund for my missing meal and we left without going to the shop or seeing the other art, it has left a bad taste in my mouth. We spent just shy of £100 in the place and to be spoken to like that was horrible. The elderly employee with dyed black hair really needs some training on customer service and manners. The way she looked at us as we left was awful, we will not be returning. This place is not welcoming of children or those with allergies I dread to think how they would react to someone who is tube fed, probably told to eat outside just avoid."
