"Two friends and I did a pre walk around Stisted before stopping at the Onley for a drink. Looking at the menu we decided to stay for lunch. Oh my goodness it was wonderful, we ate slowly, savouring every mouthful, remarking you must try this! Fantastic flavours and so well cooked. We couldn’t wait to return on the Sunday with our walking group. We were a tad worried about saying how good everything was, just in case it didn’t live up to expectations. We shouldn’t have worried, one said, best roast ever, another, thank you for introducing me to this gem. We will be back even if our Sunday walk is only vaguely near Stisted, we will be there, can’t wait. We met the chef, very good, helpful and answered all our questions. Waiting and bar staff also friendly and efficient. BTW if you like walking, good paths and we saw lots of wildlife including a large herd of deer, which stood and looked at us for ages. So good."

We have just had Sunday lunch here, now called The Street Brasserie, formerly The Onley. It looked poor and unappetising, thrown on the plate, and tasted well below average. We will not be returning.

Very well laid out and welcoming, with a lovely outside area. A well presented menu at very reasonable prices, with a friendly but professional service. Starters outside and a break as requested before lunch inside by the window. We'll be returning, very soon. View menu

A very delightful find in a lovely Essex village. Close to stansted airport, free port and nearby towns. The food was exceptional and the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. Great value for money. 15 minutes from Witham. Will definitely visit many more times.

Wow what a beautiful place, so glad we stopped in for a quick drink. Ended up having a quick bite to eat as the menu and food looked fab, we opted for the seafood platter to share which was fresh and delicious and a very good price of only £22.00. We will definitely be returning. Staff were very friendly and helpful too 10/10 would highly recommend and look forward to returning.

What a lovely place to stay, although we only stayed one night for the Clockstock festival. We stayed in the Hayloft, the apartment was beautiful, very clean and comfortable too. Lovely bar and outside seating area where we sat in the sun and had the best breakfast we have had in years. Highly recommend and will definitely stay again. Rooms: Clean, well equipped and newly decorated to a good standard. Rooms: 5

"We came here on a last minute hunt to find a Sunday roast with family without much expectations. However when entering its a lovely set up and we were greeted by Lee and Alison who looked after us for the meal who just to begin were absolutely brilliant, they really care about the customers and make this place extra special. Now for the food you can get a 2 or 3 course meal so everybody made various selections but all had starters. Most went for the Aarancina which isn't your usual starter with a Sunday roast but for here it packs alot of flavour and is a great way to start the meal. They have a great selection of alcoholic beverages I went for a simple beer. For the main roasts we had a variety of meats I wanted the pork but sadly they had no crackling which was half the reason for ordering but if I am being honest after eating the meal it wasn't missed out the meat was tasty full of flavour but the sides were the key. The roast potatoes were of a top level usually when you eat out they are never as good as eating at home, the Yorkshire were huge and tasty, gravy brilliant with plenty to go around and lots of veg and cauliflower cheese on the side. Honestly this was excellent a really good roast probably the best I have ever ate in a resteraunt. Some of the others had the lamb shank which was huge and had great feedback but the beef was great and so was everything else. So yes check it out eat in and eat some great food in a nice setting with absolutely brilliant service you won't be disappointed."
