"We came here to the restaurant for a birthday lunch and loved the hotel, grounds and food. Great atmosphere in the restaurant too, even though we came for quite a late lunch on a Friday (around 15h). The food was nice, we shared the parsnips with blue cheese as a starter, in my opinion there wasn't enough blue cheese there, I could rarely taste it. For mains we had the venison meatballs and the steak, both were quite nice. For dessert we shared the chocolate terrine which was super smooth and divine. A great collection of wines too. The food, ambiance, and service were excellent. Despite the small menu, there was a wide variety of options to choose from, all of which sounded amazing. I will definitely be returning. Service: 5 stars.

Outstanding weekend spent at The Pig for our first visit. Everything from the food, which was excellent, fresh and beautifully prepared to the rooms which are heavenly. The Pig delivers on all front. The only improvement I would make would be to add more lighting in the car park and outdoor entrance as it’s completely dark and requires you to use your phone as light. We had a meal at this restaurant to celebrate 2 birthdays and it was amazing. We left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Our waitress, Maggie, was fantastic and The Pig is fortunate to have her. She paid attention to every detail, offered to hang our coats, and even informed us about a cozy study where we could enjoy our desserts. We will definitely be back soon, as it was a perfect way to spend a Sunday. Service: 5 Location: 5 Highlights: Luxury, Great view, Quiet atmosphere. View menu

I had an amazing experience at The Pig today. Maggie provided exceptional service, taking us upstairs by the log burner for dessert and coffee. It felt like time stood still as we relaxed in the beautiful surroundings. The Pig is a destination I will definitely return to for an overnight stay. The menu was fantastic, with options like Eskimo carrots and pigeon breast. The service was top-notch and the location and hotel highlights, including luxury, great views, and a quiet atmosphere, made the experience even more enjoyable.

Our stay for one night at The Pig was just wonderful! From the service to the food to the small finishing touches, they really go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed! It's well worth the price. And don't miss the breakfast, it was our favorite part, fresh bread with fresh home made salted butter was to die for. Rooms: Lovely, very clean and loads of small touches like heated towel racks and sleepy tea on your pillow in their turndown service. "After never visiting Canterbury before we where looking for somewhere to have a late lunch, we came across this place which looked ok, upon entering the back room we were offered to take a seat in the front area and someone will be with us. We asked what food there was and we where sarcastically shown the food on the blackboard, after choosing what we wanted the polite man went off and put the order in. We did feel that because the man had asked a couple of questions to another member of staff that he was spoke down too a bit. Anyway after placing the order and what we wanted the food came out it wasn’t correct but because it seemed like we were going to interrupt the people in the back room we just took what we had. It was nice food though. When we went to pay we hadn’t noticed that there wasn’t a price list so when we asked for the bill we were told that it was donation, what we thought was enough, it wasn’t posted anywhere and it took us by surprise as we where standing at the till, I was going to pay in cash but was told they don’t take cash so I had to give my donation in card by telling the person how much we where donating. After plucking a figure out of air as we wasn’t prepared we paid and left. Upon leaving we felt that the person we paid thought we hadn’t paid enough and wasn’t happy with the amount but after working out what we would have paid properly we worked out that we had paid more than what it might have been if there was a proper price on everything. Overall it has a great ethos and it’s great for giving people the experience that they need to be in a working environment but they need to show the price or tell customers first that it’s donations and card only."
