"We stayed in the accommodation for a few nights .The room was lovely and there was one lovely member of staff who was wonderful and made us feel welcome barmaid with bluish hair) I gather the pub recently changed hands> Food wise The risotto was fab but the chips were incredibly oily and soggy. The idea of guests staying seemed a little confusing for them and although there are a few rooms we never saw anyone else Our room could easily be accessed via nice quick internal carpeted stairs but we were told that wasnt allowed so every time we wanted to ask anything or return to our room we had to go outside in the rain and cold up a very wet slippery fire escape and unlock two gates and a door to get to our room and back. The room wasn't cleaned beds madebat all in 3 days which seemed odd although we would have been ok with that if we were told also meant no top ups of milk towels etc. The other main bug bear was that when the pub was closed i.e. all morning and late evenngs the wi fi seemed to be switched off ...and of course out of hours we had no way of contacting anyone as the pub was all locked up and there was no contact or any other information in the room. We tried facebook messaging but never got a reply) which also meant we had to leave without seeing anyone as it was all locked up..... but it was an exceptionally warm and beautiful room and a really comfy bed and great shower the best room we have stayed in in a long time so like I say mixed feelings. It could be a perfect place to stay with just a little more organisation and consideration on the part of the owners with regard to room service, communication and not sending the long way outside to go to inside to our room . Like I say the one barmaid was lovely but clearly obeying management orders re access to our rooms etc.She is a real asset. The rest of the establishment could learn a lot from her."

Roast beef for Sunday lunch. Not been here for 30 years or so; think it was a bit more individual then. Shame there were so few beers on offer though.

Lovely pub in the heart of Stockport Warm welcome (except Mondays when it's closed) and a lovely little beer garden at the rear which is where I'm writing this. Well kept beer ill have 2 chilled dizzies please

Had a nice meal tonight (23/12/22) pub was pleasantly different to other pubs in the area. The main thing that stood out was the staff, especially the young waitress that served us. She was lovely and polite. Nothing was too much trouble. Would recommend the fish, chips and mushy peas.

Group of us visited for lunch after being at a training event locally. Really nice pub, lovely old fashioned style. Very clean. Staff were excellent and food was above par..... all plates were cleared and no complaints whatsoever. Would definitely recommend and we will visit again if in the area

11 of us arrived just after 12 noon and the pub delivered our pre-ordered lunches by 12.30 as we requested. The food was excellent, as was the beer and the pub is clean and comfortable as a good old fashioned pub should be. Thank you very much for looking after us and we'll definitely be coming back.

The friendly staff at this restaurant made us feel very welcome as we sat by the cozy log fire. Our lunch of steak and ale pie with mashed potatoes and onion gravy was excellent! We also had the special menu for Friday which included homemade fish and chips with peas for only £10.50, a fantastic value.

I visited this restaurant with my husband on Friday, January 31st. The ambiance was pleasant. We both ordered Fish and Chips, and the food was excellent. The fish was crispy and not greasy, with delicious mushy peas and tartar sauce. The chips were flavorful and tasted like real potatoes. The wine was affordably priced, and the service was excellent.

This used to be a reliable lunch spot for me, with a solid 4/5 rating. For less than £10, you could get a nice sandwich, chips, and a drink. However, things have changed. Despite the trendy decor and candlelit tables, the sandwich pictured below cost £5.95 and the chips were soggy and an extra £2.50. The sandwich was supposed to be on bloomer bread, but it wasn't. We complained and received some excuses, with my colleague getting a refund for her sandwich but I declined a refund for the chips. Honesty is important in the hospitality industry, and it was disappointing that the issues were only addressed after we complained, rather than at the time of ordering. Despite bringing up the problems...

"Alborz is a wonderful hidden gem in Levenshulme that serves a variety of Persian and Middle-Eastern food, located on Stockport Rd you could be forgiven for thinking that Alborz is as unassuming as it's humble exterior suggests. However, what lies behind those modest doors is truly fantastic restaurant both in terms of food and service. The interior is understated and tasteful, furnished with Persian vases and ornate tea sets, the tables are close together to make the most of the limited space available but this lends a refreshing communal atmosphere to your meal. The staff were friendly and attentive and more than happy to talk you through the menu and explain the various dishes. We ordered the Mezze Platter to start, this consists of four different starters, and is ideal if you're not overly familiar with Persian cuisine, the homemade hummus was a particular highlight being both fresh and tasty. We then ordered the Alborz special grill for two, which looks as wonderful as it tastes, succulent skewers of koobideh and chicken accompanied by grilled vegetables, saffron rice and a freshly baked taltoon bread which was frankly quite ridiculous in its magnificence and is so large it came supplied with its own stand. This was a true delight to eat and I can highly recommend it. After all of that, we were overloaded with food and couldn't possibly consider having dessert and so, asked for the bill, which led to true surprise of the evening, all of this wonderfully authentic and fresh food came to a grand total of £42. This reflects tremendous value in a time where a meal for two can often prove quite expensive. Overall I would say that Alborz is definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and if you're not well then it's worth making the trip for. If you're a fan of Persian food or perhaps want to try something new then you would genuinely struggle to find such a quality dining experience at this price point."
