"Came here with a group of friends and was very disappointed. I understand it’s a small, rural pub but I come from a rural area and completely understand some things may take longer when food and drink is served fresh but this was a bit ridiculous. Food came out very slowly and those served first waited at least 20 minutes for sauces whilst the other food came out. I really do think that when you know a large party is coming in water and sauces should be on the table as standard and you shouldn’t have to ask for it. The sticky toffee pudding when it came was cold and I notice that this is on several other reviews as well. Disappointing as sticky toffee was a favourite for many of the group. The cheddar on the cheese board was a thin shaving so we had to ask for more. Now I’m not one to over indulge and although the food tasted nice the servings are very small (especially for the price) and all of us had to go back home and have some snacks. I notice that small portions are on other reviews as well. Main lady over seeing things was rude and had a bit of an attitude about her which let the place down. The young lad who was serving us drinks was nice, helpful and smiley but was clearly under pressure. I would not recommend going here as a large group."

The pub was lovely, but quite crowded. Fortunately, we had reserved a table for six, although it was unfortunately located right next to the bar and kitchen entrance.

I attended here with friends and have never been so disappointed with the level of service we received. Service was extremely slow, rude staff and the food was cold. I would steer clear if you are in the area. Also very limited vegetarian options.

We visited this restaurant two nights in a row and enjoyed delicious meals. The king prawns were particularly delicious and the lamb was fabulous. The service on both evenings was friendly and efficient. The locals were also welcoming and hospitable. While it is a bit pricey, it is perfect for a special evening out.

Food was very good, pub has been renovated very well, nice place but on my opinion expensive. Nearly £80 for a meal for 2 with main course only, no starters, no pudding or coffee even with a couple of drinks was a lot. I know the Quantocks is an expensive area but we were surprised when the bill arrived. No issues with the food or service. View menu

We always enjoy dining at The Rising Sun, and we think highly of Amanda and her team. During our most recent visit, we experienced excellent service, as one would anticipate from a high-quality establishment like this. It's a fantastic learning opportunity for young professionals, although they must be able to keep up with the fast pace. We are eagerly looking forward to our next visit.

We had been looking forwards to our meal here as a special night out for out friends hen do as staying up the road. We had pre ordered food (of a template menu with no prices, different levels of detail about the dishes and spelling mistakes) and sent the pre orders over a week in advance. I called to pay the deposit and was told everything was fine. Everything was not fine, first a missing starter our fault not theirs, we where told even though it was on her list I had sent when brought out to show that I was wrong! Then had incorrect mains dishes brought out and wrong puddings. All the food to ages to come out, the sticky toffee was freezing cold.

Having read the recent review from a hen party group, I am left wondering if they attended the same pub/restaurant as our family of ten. For us the experience was first class. The young people who served us were bright, welcoming and extremely professional. The food was exceptionally good, fresh, hot and very tasty. As for waiting, one would expect too when the food is prepared fresh on the premises. To get group meals out together, when each meal is prepared fresh, must be an extremely difficult task for a chef. Ours coped brillaintly and compliments were sent to the kitchen. We would definately go again. Well done to the chefs and waiting staff. You deserve some credit and keep smiling. View menu

Lovely little place but 2nd time in row the portions not make sense. 5! people get the same amount of vegetables and cauliflour cheese as a table of 2! And so we asked for a new set of vegetables and got some brocoli about 20 mins after we finished our roast dinner. So one of our group ordered a second roast dinner as he was so hungry and didn't get his vegetables a until 15 mins after he ate that dinner and that portion of vegetables was the same size as per served for 5 original dinners! We thought it was a fluke on mother's day as short of food but this time thet were not busy.it would not be so bad if they could get timing right but when you ask for more vegetables your looked at as if y...

I attended here with a group of 17 for a hen party. We had pre ordered our food and were told it would be on the table at 6:30pm. However it went down hill from the start! The drinks took ages to arrive and the starters had come out before most of us had drinks. Despite pre ordering one of the starters did not arrive! We waited ages for the mains to arrive and again had issues with the right food not turning up. Some people had finished before we were all served and sauces took ages to arrive. We were only offered more drinks once throughout the whole meal. Moving onto puddings... another disaster with the wrong puddings turning up, no cutlery, cold sticky toffee puddings and such slow servi...
