"The restaurant always provides a warm welcome, with a clean and friendly atmosphere. The food is hearty and wholesome, with generous portions - so make sure to leave room for dessert! I highly recommend trying the steak and ale pie and the seasonal crumble. The bar is very welcoming to dogs, but there is also a separate dining room available. There is a lovely beer garden at the front with exceptional views. Visitors are greeted like old friends, and walkers are very welcome."

Delicious food, good beer selection. Service was friendly and attentive and catered for a surprise guest of our black lab really well. Thank you

What a wonderful, friendly and welcoming pub. We spent quite a few hours there during our holiday. All the staff are fantastic. My favourite pub in the lake District. View menu

The food at this pub is average and comes at typical Lake District prices. It's hard to understand why they would charge Β£7.50 for a bowl of soup. It's no surprise that the hospitality industry is struggling to attract customers.

Lovely place and staff. The food was awful. Chips were like warm and dry on both meals, husbands fish looked lovely and a good size too but my hunters chicken was horrible, it was a grey colour and flat, it had a strange smell to it too so I didn't eat any of the meal unfortunately.

Formerly a great pub, it is now owned by Marston's and unfortunately, it has become disappointingly lackluster. The service is slow and unfriendly, and the food, although decent, is clearly not freshly made on site. The establishment seems to rely on the constant flow of tourists to the village, so they do not put much effort into satisfying their customers. View menu

Thank you to the lovely waiter Dudley! Very friendly, warming and helpful. He popped the heating on to warm us both up. Only criticism would be poor selection of cask ales at the time of our visit (it was a Monday at beginning of March). However they did start a new cask on request. The crumble was 10/10!! This was our 2nd visit and we will be coming again x

Lovely village pub. Enjoyed a very nice evening meal. The staff are exceptionally friendly, nothing is too much trouble. In particular Becky, Billy, Dudley and Leon. Our food arrived quickly, hubby had fish and chips, the fish was huge, fresh and cooked perfectly. I had the Mediterranean lasagne, which had a generous portion of garlic bread and was piping hot. We then both enjoyed our deserts. All in all a great meal and good value for money. Would definitely recommend.

"I would have loved to rate our dining experience at the Ivy House a lot higher but we were to leave somewhat disappointed. The dining area was pleasant and intimate with well appointed decor, the waitress and waiters pleasant, polite and attentive. The varied menu looked very appetising with most tastes catered for. We chose two courses from the main menu, the Duck Breast and a Fish Dish for myself. Contrary to other reviews we were to wait over 40 minutes before the food was presented to us. We were not advised of any delays or even the expected length of time we might have to wait. The food on arrival was well presented and flavoursome although I did not consider two small stem broccoli spears a serving. I also asked the waiter why there was no Samphire to accompany my dish as stated on the menu, this comment was also reinforced by a fellow diner who ate the same dish just prior to me. The waiter advised me that he would ask the chef. I did not receive a response to my question during further table service and subsequently asked the waiter again. On returning the waiter advised me the chef said β€œhe will try to remember to put it on next time”, a somewhat disrespectful comment. The Cheese platter we were presented with was lacklustre and sparse, quince jelly and a small dish of chutney being the predominant feature. For ourselves we did not feel that our dining experience represented good value for money."
