"I was wandering around Banbury town with half an hr to spare before my train, unsure about whether I wanted a coffee or not, and which cafe to go to. On such a cold day, most cafes had ques and staff looked stressed it was likely I wasn't going to grab a coffee at all! Then I received an inviting welcome from a member of staff at The Rustic Bean, who encouraged me to come into the warm and try their offerings. From the moment I walked toward the cafe to the moment I left, this person naturally went above and beyond what a barista usually does making me feel welcome and seen to. I believe the person's name is Nash. They had pride in their work as they brought out my latte with a beautiful rippled heart in it and generally just brought chilly Parsons St alive with a smile. Top service."

Always friendly staff very helpful. Excellent coffee and cakes, croissants from their own bakery across the road. Always a great stop while in town.

I don't understand why this cafe only has two stars because it is fantastic. The food is delicious, the cakes are yummy, and the coffee is really good.

We often stop here for a coffee when we are out walking the s Dog. As we can sit outside. Beautiful coffee and hot chocolate to die for. Worth a visit.

This café is a short walk from The Mercure hotel where we were staying. It is open early in the morning so we called in for breakfast. It has a pleasant interior, we enjoyed coffee and croissant which was reasonably priced. View menu

This charming café is a wonderful spot to enjoy a meal with your furry friend. The decor is lovely and the staff is incredibly welcoming. The menu features rustic, simple dishes that are executed and presented beautifully. The latte coffee is top-notch and the sourdough bacon sandwich is outstanding.

I was a wee bit disappointed because previous reviews looked very good. The “rustic” decor was pretty quaint. And I liked the latte. However, I also had a mocha, which I found strangely bitter. Two of us had a cake, neither of us were impressed mine was orange and cranberry, though I thought it almost tasteless and rather dry. View menu

Have walked past lots of times but today had time to kill so decided to stop for coffee and cake. Good coffee, service and fantastic Danish (baked by sister shop opposite). Would have been 5 stars but arriving at lunch time with queues forming being asked what you wanted and where you were going to sit was a bit like being interogated. No time for dithering here! That said staff are polite friendly efficient and bring your food and drink to the table which is nice.

Let me start by saying that on the day (2/01/23) the restaurant was full. We placed three orders one after the other and were all seated at the same table. Our drinks were served sporadically, taking over 10 minutes for three coffees and a tea. The sandwiches, of which mine was quite good, came out in a random order. My order was for two sandwiches, the first arrived, then the second 20 minutes later, and finally, 15 minutes after that, mine arrived. Other tables received their orders before me, even though they had ordered after me. The lack of organization at the front of house and in the kitchen was evident. This is what lets this place down when it is busy - they seemed unable to handle...

"I’m frustrated and annoyed with booking a romantic meal for our year wedding anniversary, with the current pandemic and work commitments it made a change to make an effort and be excited to visit the boxing hare as the reviews had been excellent. We...were seated in the garden room, next to a family who were on first name terms with the waiting staff and who were so loud I thought I was at a Chelsea match! We received complimentary glasses of champagne and we placed our order for starters and main which were excellent however I felt rushed with the service, as much as I tried to have a conversation all I could hear was this family at decibels to which enough was enough usually I would say something, however rather than ruin there evening I asked for us to be reseated to which the waiting staff were in agreement that they were loud! So why place us next to them? We were given a table in a different part of the pub still busy with other diners giving respect to one another. The table given I was advised I had as it was reserved? I placed dessert order and two lattes with baileys followed by the bill! The bill was a tad on the steep side for a gastro pub perhaps the prices are based on the price of fuel to fill the owners Bentley Overall felt it was a rushed evening disappointed with the seating arrangements,I won’t be returning as I felt what was important to us wasn’t important to the Boxing Hare I’ve had better evenings at The Falkland Arms Great Tew, The Great Western Aynho"
