"Not our first visit, but just as good as the last. We pre- booked a table for six following a afternoon at Pontefract Races. On arrival the pub was very busy as you'd expect from a city centre hostelry next to the main train station. All of us ordered pie of the day with a choice of drink included and it was excellent value for the money. The pies are notoriously good and we ordered four steak/ meat pies and two fish pies..everybody was impressed. The Nicholsons IPA was excellent, as mentioned in previous reviews. The staff obviously work as a team and are young and vibrant, very helpful with a positive attitude. It's the type of pub you can visit with friends or just call in on your own and not feel out of place. Keep up the good work, pubs like these are becoming a rarity."

Had a small meeting in the right hand side of the pub, a great location, staff are all lovely, very organised. Food was great, had the fish and chips. Beer afterwards was decent, had a madri. Just does what a pub should do, very well. Would recommend. View menu

I am always impressed by this pub. The staff is polite and friendly, the menu is excellent, and the place is clean and tidy. The staff is constantly wiping tables, which I appreciate. It offers great value for money and has a fantastic atmosphere. I highly recommend paying a visit when you're in Leeds.

I always enjoy going to this long-standing Leeds pub. They offer a great selection of traditional ales that are well-maintained, and their service is top-notch. It can get crowded, especially on game days, but the wait at the bar is never too long. However, I haven't been too impressed with the food or portion sizes here, and I was taken aback by the prices on my last visit.

I was in Leeds for the night and in need of a quick meal. Although the restaurant was wrapping up their food service for the evening, I managed to try their delicious steak and ale pie. The service provided by the waiter was excellent and very attentive. The only drawback was that the carrots were a bit hard, but the peas and greens were fantastic. I would definitely recommend it. Textbook example of how to great a customer, provide amazing service and prepare and deliver amazing food. The simple things that so very rarely appear to be on offer these days. Brilliant beer professional service and pies to die for!!!! Thank you for an amazing experience. We live in Ilkley but will happily get the train in just to eat in your lovely pub. Whatever you do not change anything. Thank you Chris and Tracy Henry

Really excellent and friendly customer service. Food was delicious and hearty as well. It arrived in good time and was presented well. Overall a great pub for drinks and a meal with a solid choice of beers and food. I would say that though over £15 for a vegan burger which only comes with a small side salad and not chips seems on the expensive side even for a city centre pub. I appreciate the brewery/company set the prices though rather than the pub themselves.
