"Pub is not well kept and is quite a mess. Cobwebs on walls, incredibly sticky tables, general upkeep. About 3 parking spaces at the pub otherwise it’s a £7 fee in main parking area (card payment only). £22 for bream with roast/fried new potatoes and a cucumber salsa. The piece of bream was tiny although delicious, potatoes were swimming in oil and the cucumber salsa was not appetising at all. The chicken Caesar salad was absolutely smothered in dressing, about 90% lettuce with croutons, Parmesan and chicken. The sauce was very sickly, there were no bacon bits, anchovies, tomato, egg, it was just incredibly basic and anyone could do better at home. The beef madras was edible. Other than the quality and the food and pub, the other issue were the amount of dogs in the pub and restaurant area. There were at least 7 at one stage and they all seemed to be barking at each other with ear piercing noise levels and nothing said to the owners of any of them. This was incredibly distracting and ruined the lunch more so than the rest of the experience."

This is a fantastic pub in an excellent location within the village, just a short distance from Bantham beach. They offer a nice variety of local beverages, and the food is delightful. This charming pub features a cozy fireplace and a separate dining area. You'll need to place your orders at the bar, but they are willing to set up a tab for your table. The fish pie and mussels were delightful, with generous servings. It's advisable to make a reservation ahead of time, although they do welcome walk-ins if they have availability. Do note that the bar area is significantly smaller than the dining space.

After a day on the beach, it was a welcoming place to relax. Good beer and food, my wife said the fish and chips were excellent and my fish pie was the best I've had. Highly recommended, but a captive audience means it's not the cheapest. Ignore reviews saying there's no outdoor space, it's past the toilets. Nearby activities: Sandy beach Walkability: Beach, dunes, cliff top, rocks, river, estuary, it seems to have it all Service: 5
