"Like the majority of the people in the country we were eager to escape lockdown and had planned a small tour of Shropshire, Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and Somerset. We called ahead and were greeted at the Squirrel for a pub stopover. on arrival we were given the choice of overnight parking for the campervan. having enjoyed the town of Ludlow, within walking distance of the pub, we returned and had a meal there. It was a little strange being the first day of opening but once we entered everything was well organised and socially distanced. as for the food that was excellent pub food and I can recommend the fish and chips.so, all in all, the Squirrel is well worth stopping at, the food is really good and the service was excellent. thanks to all the management and staff there, will see you all again soon."

Great service from Helen and the team. Food and drinks were of good standard. All in all a good stop for lunch whilst out on the road.

It's a pub next to the travelodge on a business park. Food OK, nothing more than that and drinks pricey. Only worth calling in if staying in Hotel

Pre booked to go for Sunday lunch and it was excellent. Menu was excellent. Staff were helpful our server struggled a lot with everything but had only just started and was helped out by the other servers. Food was delicious and good portions.

We were staying in the hotel next door, so we visited this pub on both nights. On the first night we had a meal here and the second night we just had drinks. The food was ok (fish chips/chicken burger chips). Great service from staff, helpful and friendly. There's an outside seating area and a car park here too.

Good service, good food. I see lots of mixed reviews in relation to this place. If you are expecting Michelin standard service and food there are other places to go in Ludlow. If you are expecting value for money and good honest food and welcoming hosts in Andrew and Rachel then give this place a go and you wont be disappointed.

Staying in the hotel next door it seemed an obvious choice for a dinner on arrival. The staff were just there to do their job. The food was very poor, a microwave was used a little too long! With eyes closed, we couldn 't have decided the contents on taste alone. Chicken Tikka Masala was tastless with pulled chicken that was too hard to eat. Jam roly poly was a solid square lump of not cooked through 'dough ' with a meagre scraping of jam on top. Two hungry diners retreated to our room for snacks. Not to be repeated. Travel into Ludlow!!

Staying at the hotel next door, and called here for convenience. Decent chain pub food at a good price, good selection of drinks and plenty of choice on the menu. Sat outside in the sun for pre meal drinks, very pleasant, friendly staff and a good atmosphere. But what was really great about this place was Andy, the manager, nothing was too much trouble and really took time to chat about our visit, the pub, area etc. What makes good pubs is good staff who care and Andy is a credit to Marston's who leads by example. All very covid safe and it was good to see young staff challenging customers on not wearing mask's etc.

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."
