"Having lived locally to this pub for 10 years I can honestly say it goes from strength to strength. The food for me is the best roast you will encounter in London. The depth and choice on the menu shows that they have a chef that obviously wants to offer a variety of dishes that also cater to everyone Meat lovers, veggies and vegans! I love this place, you are always made to feel welcome with the friendly staff and great selection of beers, wines and some excellent cocktails! I for one can 't wait for this place to reopen after lockdown and I urge you all to pay this place a visit. Having read the previous review I was puzzled but if you read 'LittleFinbar 's reviews it is clear that this person is quite angry at life and was attempting to try and pose as a 'funny ' critic, instead coming off as quite a sour person. Each to their own. I am very excited for the end of lockdown and will be there asap and urge all of you that enjoy supporting a fantastic local independent pub to support too!"

The pub looks quite nice and from what I have heard the food is quite good and I suppose that it would be possible to have a good experience there if it weren’t for their extremely rude staff. View menu

The Talbot is a great local pub. The food is always amazing. However tonight James really made all the difference. He was so attentive and fantastic and even gave us hot water bottles when we were a bit chilly. He was a 10 out of 10 service and such a lovely person to deal with!

Popped down Tuesday evening once the weather Improved looking for a table outside for 4 plus a baby without a booking but all the tables outside were already taken so we sat inside all fully enjoyed our food and my vegan option. Special shout out to James who looked after us from start to finish and never left us with an empty drink in hand. Will be back!

Average roast with surprisingly expensive non alcoholic drinks £4 for a pint of lime and soda? £1 more would have got me a beer… . Roast was luke warm and no one came to check on us seated upstairs if they had I would’ve asked for it to have been microwaved. Pub itself wasn’t very warm with several people sat in coats and scarves. Atmosphere upstairs was completely taken over by a rowdy table screaming. Maybe downstairs on a non Sunday roast day would be better. View menu

The prices here are shocking, so we were expecting something superb. Unfortunately, it is in no way that. The wait staff and bartenders all seemed grumpy. Maybe they all had a rough night, but the service was not great. And the food was very hit or miss. The tomato salad was lovely, but the chicken burger was dry and tasteless and the chips were from Iceland. Others at our table said the steak was awful. Maybe this place was great in 2020, but our seems to have since gone downhill under new ownership. You’ll find better value elsewhere.

Plentiful outdoor seating, great food and drinks. We just got small plates, but the Sunday roasts smelled and looked delicious- will be back for that! Best of all is the friendly and incredible service. In particular, James and another young man with a great Beatles-ish haircut whose name I didn’t catch, really made the afternoon/evening so pleasant and comfortable for my friend and I. Everyone who works there is amazing honestly. We came in with no reservation (notable in the post-lockdown frenzy), got a table right away and stayed for hours. They even brought us hot water bottles to warm up as the sun went down and it became chilly. Left us both feeling so content- it is not often in Londo...

"A friend and I stumbled on to this neighbourhood restaurant by chance; no research, no booking, no expectations. We were then blown away by the quality of the food: wonderfully fresh fish, beautifully cooked. The service is also exemplary. I've always enjoyed calamari, but this was by far the best I've ever had: truly succulent and juicy. The mussels were almost as good, and the sea bream kept up the standard. The spiced quince with ice cream made a nice change from baclava in a Turkish restaurant (they still threw in some baclava). The owner, Tony, provides excellent recommendations — make sure you take them! He knows what's fresh that morning, and how his wife cooks it. The bill comes hand-written, and Tony forgot to include the wine (obviously I corrected him). I can't remember the last time a restaurant bill made a mistake in the customers' favour! No service charge is included, and it deserves a lot more than the usual 12.5%. This is a wonderful, old-fashioned restaurant, run by a charming old couple, committed to maintaining old-fashioned standards. The food is more than great and the prices more than reasonable. Service is personal, honest and responsive (providing Tony turns his hearing aid on). Tony warns you if anything you wanted was bought in, rather than home-made. Why don't unassuming but wonderful restaurants like this get Michelin stars?"
